Audiophile 2496 + AMX-100

Hey all!

I need some advice / tips.

Same old story. I'm helping some very non-technical but musical friends out with setting up a basic way to record.

I obtained an Audiophile 2496 and a AMX-100.
(Under $50 dollars total spent)
I'm going to spend the next few days playing around with both of them together and see what happens.

The first question is this : After adjusting the levels on the mixer, do I then again adjust them on the Audiophile soundcard? Or does one stay the same while I up and down another?

When going from the mixer to the soundcard what is the ideal hookup? The soundcard has SPIDF(sp) inputs as well as RCA... So rca?

And any tips when using this method to record would be great!

I've been reading the boards for days now and still cant keep up :S

Use the 1/4" out of the mixer and the RCA inputs of the soundcard.

Adjust the volume on the mixer.

You'll need to balance the mix before recording it if you have more than one microphone coming into the mixer. Audacity will record only a stereo (left and right) pair at a time.

Learn by doing --- it's highly unlikely that you can break either component while experimenting.

I just recieved the mixer.
The guy I bought it from said it would be ok to use the Tape Out Rca jacks to go to my audiophile. So rca to rca. Can you guys confirm this?
Also does going through the tape out allow me to record 2 tracks in Cakewalk?
