Are these the right clampers (NAB adaptors) for a TASCAM MSR16?

It looks like it uses the stock 1/2" NAB adaptors like that one. He may be thinking of the MS16 which obviously is different since it's a 1" deck.
 
Yes, those are right for the MSR-16... if they are indeed for 1/2". If they fit the 38, 48, TSR-8, etc, then they are the same as for the MSR-16. Just make sure they're not the 1/4" for machines like the 32, 42, etc.

Good observation. But it looks like a stock photo. Many times I've had to ask a seller if the picture is correct or if the description is correct, because it could not be both.

The vender has over 4000 auctions under his belt. So odds are, he doesn't actually know this item all that intimately.

Another good point. I have seen some sellers listing 1/4" metal or plastic reels as being 1/2" because they measure the width and to them it seems closer to 1/2". Could be same story with these clampers. Well, we will see I suppose. Last time I bought these from Tascam for my TSR-8 a few years ago they were only $13.50 a piece. Seems someone got the bright idea to buy out certain parts and charge an arm and a leg for them.
 
Yeah, the mark up is criminal with many of these venders. But if people pay those prices, it only encourages them to keep the prices up.

Supply and demand.

True enough. Well, if I ever have to replace the ones I have now, for that price I'm going for the spiffy metal ones like these. :)

Mostly I see those sold as just the metal part, and not the actual adaptor.

Altruistica, if that one doesn't pan out I do have a spare 1/2" adaptor I no longer need.
 
You can still get reel clampers from Tascam.It amazes me that there is a seller on Ebay that sells pinch rollers and reel clampers and says"takes three to four days to order from an overseas source",calls Tascam parts, gets them, then marks up the price 200-400%.
 
Thanks JP for that....I added some thing else but haVE LOST it due to pressing the wrong button and can't be arsed typing it all again.

Yep, and we've been spreading the word about going directly through Tascam since I've been a member here. To be fair, Tascam is often out of things more lately, but I still say check Tascam parts first. This was happening back in 2003 and I was always directing people to Tascam because even then eBay sellers were selling parts for twice the price. And back then people were also paying more for used tape on eBay than they could buy it new from online tape supply stores. It's a funny thing. All I do now is just sit back and watch it happen while I get the good deals fro myself. What else can I do? ;)
