If you are mixing in the box, you might think about using either a Midas Venice or a Crest X-Rack. They have fewer channels, and fewer routing options, but they have great/good preamps, and good/great EQ (respectively). If you are worried about your boards mic pres, get the Midas. Really, you will be extatic with it. It is a great little board. If you are using outboard pre's and want great EQ, the Crest X-Rack has a really, really lovely EQ. It does exactly what it is supposed to do (a nice change from the Mackie), and sounds very nice. Sure, you lose some flexability, but you more than make up for it in sound.
