A little update for all who have been helping me so far:
The Delta 1010 and JBL monitors are now running smooth -- no pops or crackles. Alfalfa pointed out it was the reciever's fault.
I ended up getting Sonar and upgraded it to 2.2 off Cakewalk's web site. I have one used Sure 4 channel Mic mixer, but I'd like to have the capability of recording individual mic tracks.
So - I guess I need some mic preamps. I was going to get the 8 Channel SMProAudio PR8, ($200), but Musician's Friend is back ordered on them. But maybe some diversity of preamp would be good for recording different instruments / people?
I'm looking for at least 2 channels. Some people have said get the Audio Buddy; however, I did see a Behringer that I liked: the MIC 2200, Ultragain Pro. ($99) Is it any good? I liked that it is a rack mount.
Anyway, I don't mean to be "a cheap you know what" about this, but I'm way over budget from getting those JBL monitors, and then deciding on a Delta 1010 instead of a cheaper card... so if there is any preamp that is halfway decent for low cost.... I can always get a better one later.
Thanks,
Jed
