I've always wanted one of those, but they seem like they're either impossible to get or a scam. I wonder how difficult it would be to do one of your own.

They were built on a one at a time basis. Usually took 30-90 days to get one. Haven't even heard of this thing in about 3 years. And I can think of better ways to spend a hundred dollar bill.
Do you really need one? Try craigslist or ebay and keep watching. They were hand built, so they should be fairly sturdy.

Yeah, I'd really like to buy one though people are scalping the things like crazy. I saw one go for $600 on ebay (way too much). For $120, I'd gladly pick one up if I had the cash on hand at the time.
It's a shame that nobody else is making them. I don't know why the dude doesn't just license his code to someone else if he's so backed up with orders. The NES patent is no longer active, so there are all kinds of people manufacturing various NES things (USB NES controllers, etc)
Wayfar is the guy who made them and the site has basically delinked the "buy me" link.
