Hi
I get a loud humming noise when I connect my keyboard to my laptop. (Macbook Pro) My keyboard only has USB - not midi out. My audio interface is a Saffire 24Pro that runs via firewire.
The noise appears when I want to record the audio from the keyboard while still having the USB cable plugged in. When I remove the USB I can record with no noise at all.
According to the research I did it's likely a grounding issue. I just don't know much about this stuff and how to fix it.
I tried to connect my entire setup to the same power plug and also to run the laptop on battery. It helps but the hizz is still way too loud. I'm thinking about getting a hum remover like Cleanbox II but I was thinking that maybe I should get a USB to Midi cable and run the midi through my audio interface. My question is: will a midi to usb cable/interface like for instance the Midi Sport work? It's usually used to convert from Midi to USB not from USB to Midi?
I hope you'll be able to advice me here.
Thanks a lot.
Jakob
