Can I have two mics permanently plugged (w/ XLR cables) into the 2 inputs on back of my mic pre (dbx 386) and then also plug my bass or guitar into the front panel (line inputs) and not blow anything up??? Now that I've racked this thing it's virtually impossible to unplug the mics from the back everytime I want to use an instrument via the front panel. I assume once I plug into the front, that signal will just override the input in the back... correct? No worries? Thanks!

Please don't cross post =)
Keep a topic in 1 forum.

Thanks,

Sabith

PS, U won't blow anything up, unless U use phantom power and you 1/4 has a bad groud.........

Sorry duuuuuuuuuuude.

Sorry for the cross-post... I was just looking for a fast answer, Sabith. I've seen it done here many times before, so I didn't think I was breaking the law.

Wow I think Sabith is a bit anal today. Lets split hairs shall we?
I don't know about explosions except for that it hurts if a fire cracker goes off in your fingers.

With the 386 you don't have to worry about blowing any thing up at all. There's a button on the front for each channel to select between mic input (on the rear) and line input on the front. The phantom power is only present on the XLR and then only when it's switched on via the button on the front panel.

Hey Rats, I answerd his question and since cross-posting isn't very well liked I asked him not to do it. I didn't start yellin..... just asked nicely =)
