Annoying Noise

When i plug my soundboard into my laptop, it makes a really annoying squeel sort of sound. When i unplug the laptop, and just use battery power, it stops, and i can record perfectly. But, i dont have that much battery to waste. Any ideas on how to make it stop?

Likely it's due to the internal grounding (or lack of) in the laptop.
Could even be from the charger itself. See if you can't hit up a Radio Shack or some place that will allow you to try out a universal laptop power supply.
You may even try using a ground lift on your sound-board.
