Ampex UST-4

I just found one of these at the flea market for $85. Is that a fair deal? I've never seen one before and can't find them listed on e-bay. It comes with the manual and is from 1963.

I want something that I can use to record 4 tracks simultaneous. Thanks for any help :)

No. However, from a cursory scan on google, I can fairly safely say that it is not going to do what you're hoping for, assuming it even still works.

What it looks like it should do is play back 4-track stereo tapes, i.e. ones that can be flipped over like a cassette. It will not record or play back all 4 tracks at once, though.

Do you still have your Ampex UST-4? I have recently purchased one to use as a prop in a production, and I'm looking for another identical player in good working condition to use as a back-up. Would you be willing to sell your player? ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
