Ampex 456 1/4" and 1/2", 2 Ampex 2" 456 and 4 GP9 2" Platinum tapes for sale

I have 4 metal reels of GP9 Grand Master Platinum Studio Master 2" tape.(2001) in boxes
I have 2 metal reels of Ampex 456 Studio Mastering Tape 2" (1990s) in boxes
I have 2 reels of Ampex Grandmaster 456 - one is 1/4", one is 1/2" (1983) in boxes
I have 1 reel of 3M 996 Audio Mastering Tape 1", in plastic case (1983)
all are 10 1/2 inch reels. Only one has splices - I think it's the 1/2".

They have been very well kept - my master tapes. At this point, I'd rather re-record these albums.
So what are they worth to people? Or where do you suggest I offer them for sale?
I'm in Colchester, Vermont.
Thanks for any responses!

The GP9 should be good. The others I added comments inside your quote. We have a classified subforum that you could list on. Other than that eBay?

Hi There, Thanks for the advice about the condition of the tapes - maybe the serial numbers on the 456 would tell us if they're from a flaky batch?

I'm not sure about the last line - Recording music on a device used for word processing? Is that message about something else? These are all music
recording tapes.

I'd love to know how to get to the classified subforum - I'm new here. Thanks so much for your help. CM

It's the signature attached to all his messages, it wasn't aimed at you in particular (he's talking about making albums on a PC)

Oh! Thank you - now I see. On one of my other lists a fellow signs himself "technical prowess is not the point" (referring to playing music)

welcome.

yeah thats my signature line.

look for a sticker on the box an tell us the numbers and we can tell you how to decode it.

HI - thank you! I put them on the Classifieds. Should I put all the serial numbers right there in the listing, or send them separately? Is there a certain way to post them? I'm all questions...thanks again, CM

Naw, I wouldnt post them. Most everyone around here is up on the problems with different tapes. If they are interested they more than likely will ask for the numbers off of the stickers on the tape boxes.

I run strictly Ampex 499 grand master at my place. But I could use some more tape for little projects with the band. The GP9 stuff could be used on my machines without a recalibration IIRC. What are you looking for for the reels of that?

Well, you know more about the market than I do - what would you say? I used them on one album, fast speed, so each tape was only 15 minutes. They've been in the boxes since then. I've kept them from extremes of temperature and humidity. I guess they went through the machine a bit as we added tracks, but they should be in excellent shape. Can you give me a quote on 4 reels in excellent shape? I trust you to be fair, cause you know what a fair price is. Considering you're part of this online community, I would think your reputation is in good shape. If it turns out they are worth less than what you pay, I'll send a refund. Honest. (And I'll be happy to provide addresses, references, whatever.)
They cost at least $100 each when new. It's high quality tape, though I guess 499 must be better. Don't know if it was available then, but this was the best available to this particular studio in VT. Look forward to hearing from you. Want an email address?

email would be good. I am not confident in the internal message system on this forum. It could vey well be me, but I have had bad luck with it. My email is my screen name here @ yahoo dot com
