There a 20 channel AMEK TAK Bullet console for sale here locally. I am not familiar with theis brand. My brief web searching brings up lots of interesting references like Rupert Neve.

Anybody have any lowdown on these?

I don't know specifically about the bullet, but Amek is a high end manufacturer. Up there with API, Midas, etc...

That was probably a $20,000 console when it was new.

Do a Google Groups search of rec.audio.pro. The TAC consoles have come up for discussion a few times if I recall correctly. You might also post a question about this model over there. Lots of knowledgeable folks.

Thanks Rick. i did a quick review over there. Seen several posts about having to do massive pot replacements. Sounds like an underdesigned compoent.
I'll probably go look atthe console, but I am not looking for a big project like Sweetbeats does. I've passed on a few non-tascam brand console that needed attention in the past. I was just intrigued by this unit as it sounded like it was a higher end console

The TAC brand (Total Audio Concepts) was the lower end of the Amek totem pole. I own and use an Amek TAC Scorpion almost daily. I love it. Its a 24x16 that works perfectly with my ms16 and mx70. I have hoarded a bunch of parts from here and there but have not had to use any of them. It was built in 1985 and I've had it for about 6 years.

Remember when...

Talldog was trying to decide whether to keep the MS16 or the MX-70???

I see option 'C' was chosen...keep 'em both. :D:D:D

Why don't we call it option B.5. I know my board will work well with both decks. I've brought the mx70 up to spec (as far as I know) with a new pinch roller but it is still sitting in my living room (much to my wife's chagrin). My studio is on the third floor and I am not looking forward to carrying it up there. I need to wait until my current projects are done on the ms16 (which always sounds great) before I try the mx70. I'm kinda hoping my lovely wife gets used to it as furniture before I have to tear up the current design.

B.5 it is...

Just don't let her put plants on it, and fer cryin' out loud make sure guests use coasters for their drinks, huh?

Its kinda fun to watch the drinks spin.............30 ips doesn't work so good though. I'm gonna have to paint.

LOL! But it does save you the expense of swizzle sticks don' it?
