I like this mic for vocals and have used it on acoustic guitar some. I had to sell mine for financial reasons a while back and would like to get something similar again. Is there anything available that is similar but at a lower price? Thanks in advance!

I like the Oktava MK319 - a little darker than the 4040. Some of them are duds, but the good ones are pretty good. I have one modified by Oktavmod that's really good.

Shure KSM27 or SM27 But like Darrin i think that 3035 would be a Good Choice for less Money.Buy Used and you can get a 4050 or 4047 for $350

A used AT4040 is like $200-ish on craigslist. Or are you looking for something much cheaper? i.e. You like to eat, you don't trust the bar you record at, or you just need 100 or so of them... If you're like me you probably spend 2x's that on car insurance, phone, internet, or any number of things. Your car payment is probably higher than that. And the mic will last much longer than a month (in theory).

4040 is worth the price as is the 4033. My likes do not include the 3035.

How about an MXL v67g? I have both of these mics myself, and find that I like the bass and mid range a little better on the MXL and the highs are not as hyped...
