Janes Addiction is one of my favorite bands.

Alright, Scott, you are now one of my favorite bbs members, then. I grant you permission to bash me if you so choose. And A1 and Mountainmirrors, too, because they're Floyd heads. :D

I'm a Floydhead too!

Don't really want to bash you tho'.

Well, I'm sure you can probably guess what I'd like the next "challenge" to be. :D Everyone do your best Floyd cover, and you have a whole week to do it.

Best one gets: *a pirated CDR copy of Syd Barret's Madcap Laughs, *my "Delicate Sound of Thunder" poster. :D (You know, the trippy one where they got one dude standing in the desert with birds flying all around him, and the other dude with lightbulbs all over his body), and *Lt. Bob's custom one-hitter with Dark Side Prism logo, and lastly, *A1's dual-hammer-embossed water bong.

Good luck.

wow sounds great to me chessrock, what equipment do you use?

Lt. Bob: You're not a real Floyd fan unless you have at least some sort of paraphernalia with a floydian logo on it somwhere. :D

Coffeeandtea: My friend was playing a Les Paul in to his little Fender tube amp. I can't remember the name of it, but it's the little yellowish colored one that looks just like the Peavey Classic30. Anyway, the combo just sounded great in the room.

I just miced that with a 57 through the Joemeek VC6Q to the Delta 1010 at 16 bit, with a Behringer ecm measurement mic several feet back for ambience. Something about my room really complimented the tone, so that combo worked real well. I plugged the bass in to the ART Tube MP and went the same route. Accoustic was an ovation with an MC012 at one of the smaller sound holes.

Rode NT2 was used on vocals, through the ART Tube MP, again. The delay and chorus I wound up applying to my voice I thought sounded great. I actually used a Boss VF-1 for that, which has some killer vocal effects, if you can believe it. I was pretty blown away, as I always thought it was mostly a guitar processor. What a find.

The drums were sampled loops I derived from a previous session. I used ACID to piece and arrange the loops together.

Keith...

I see ya peekin' in here (top of the page)... checking the thread? Well... here's a bump...

BTW the only "Jane's" CD I have is the "Been Caught Stealin'" CD Single (USED no less!!).... (but not stolen ;))...

Can't believe I got thru the "grunge" era without hearing the whole CD, although more than once thought about buying "Nothing's Shocking" just for the cover art ;)

I refuse to tell you that this totally kicks ass unless and until you post your picture in The Cave. Do it now...

really, you should.

I think Jane's addiction were just a few years ahead of their time. If they had released Nothing Shocking in, say, '92 or '93 when Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden and all the grungie bands were hitting it, I think Jane's would have been right in the thick of things.

They were alternative when alternative was still alternative, and not some overused catchphrase beaten to death by MTV.

Wait a minute, here. No more Jane's talk. This is supposed to be about Pink Floyd now. :D

Chessrock,

What type of bass were you playing here? I like the sound. Gimme specs! :)

Excellent job. I can't believe what you guys can put together in an hour and a half.

16 bit sounded fine to me. I'd bet 24 bit wouldn't make a noticeable difference to most Joes like me listening on headphones. Decent vocals and the bass playing is pretty nice too.

you sure have a way of getting under peoples skins, and you post here like you are paid for it, so I had to check you out.
Gonnacheck out the 2 quarreling Ky rednecks here in a minute too :) nice recording though I doubt the time range. Been many moons since i hear any janes addiction at all. good work and quit pissing everyone off.
