Read the post again. I said some people like it and some people don't. If you want that sound, which is a classic, there are no "better" mics. There are a list of what Track Rat calls "the ususal suspects" that might be better for some specific application, or which some folks will just prefer, as a matter of taste. These include EV RE20, Audix D6, and Shure SM7B, among others. In my experience, the people who hate the D112 often like the D6 and vice versa. Experienced (older) engineers often favor the discontinued AKG D12. Many people use one of the dynamics above in conjunction with a condenser backed off a bit. My main point was that the D112 is often overlooked as an all-purpose large diaphragm dynamic, and gets pigeonholed as a kick mic.-Richie
