Hello. I'm using two AKG C3000b's as overhead mics. My question is how should I position them and where should I point them? How high above the drum set should they be and how far apart should they be spaced? Should I face them in toward eachother or outwards toward their own sides of the drum set? Maybe just straight down facing what theyre positioned over? I want to get a pretty good stereo separation between the two sides of the kit so that on the recording it sounds like youre sitting behind the drumset. Also, should they be positioned more toward the front of the set or toward the back? Just wondering. Thank you.

there are a bunch of different overhead mic'ing techiques - spaced pairs; XY pairs; in front of kit; behind kit; etc. I would check out the articles I've linked below and experiment unti you get the sound and separation that you want.

here's a good article on drum mic'ing techniques:

also, check out this link for some ideas:

go to 'drums and percussion' and then 'mic placement'
