damn..ya'll trippin' i was just joking in my intro!!!!
I had to get ya'll to listen to the music somehow, so I challenged your credentials and guess what.........IT WORKED!

Not trying to be harsh or mean, but if you think you're going to get respect around here by coming in and throwing out a badass attitude....you're not gonna get it. People here will judge you by your skills (or if applicable, lack thereof). And nobody I've ever met took very kindly to being told what they thought (i.e. "YOU THOUGHT I DID IT IN A PRO STUDIO!!!!!").

That said...

It's not bad. To be honest, I can tell that the first verse was done in a studio and the second verse wasn't. The first verse just sits in the mix better. In the second verse, it seems like there's a little too much sibilance. If you're not using a pop filter, you might want to start using one, and you might want to play around a little with the EQ in dropping some of the upper frequencies, because there's something there that's jumping out.

Too much high-end is a characteristic of mixing with headphones. The proximity effect of headphones artificially boosts the bass, so you end up boosting the treble and/or reducing the bass to compensate for it. When played on a normal system that doesn't have the side effects of proximity effect, you end up with weak sounding low end and overpowering highs.

"Challenged our credentials"? Sounds like you're the one that's tripping...

Thank you, for being honest with a new guy. I appreciate your critique as well as your posting information.
Thank You very much

Wait a second...I finished typing a "thank you" post and I come back to the page to find you insulting me.....

and that pic in your sig line is really annoying btw.

your "work" will NEVER challenge my credentials.

First of all, I dont do hip-hop. cant stand that stuff.. same with R+B.

If I did...I wouldnt come online to an established community and start talking out of my ass like you are doing.

and ....the work isnt that good from a listener standpoint(genre aside)

take some mixing classes and creative writing.THEN start slinging insults.

that didnt sound good did it. first impressions are everything. Still cant stand hip hop or R+B, but if I may offer advice..theres a lot of experience here. Listen to these guys.

I'm not insulting you. I'm just saying drop all the ridiculousness and ask us serious questions straight up. What...are we children that you have to entice with ice cream, or are we so big and badass that you have to challenge us to get any kind of a response? No... Just ask questions and be willing to receive the resulting info. You've been here for 9 days at the most and have 8 posts...is that enough for you to say "I had to get ya'll to listen to the music somehow"? No... Just ask!

see the above post.

I was just playing with you...

music I like??

Bluegrass, acoustic jazz, classical, acapella vocal music...classic country, some world music. southern gospel.

anything acoustic.

I'll agree with this too. If you want to be taken seriously here, then stop annoying people with an overly large image in your sig.

Sorry about that you guys but that is how it is in the rap forums...
Be an asshole=MUCH RESPECT
I will change now

since all of you seen my sig, I offer graphic design if anyone is interested. I don't require payment in money. I just need some type of instrumental music (electronica, hip-hop, trip-hop...etc.).

Guess what.........IT DIDN'T! It had exactly the opposite effect, I instantly could care less what the hell you sound like. I'm sure you're probably a nice guy who thinks you've got to become this psuedo jerk to get your music noticed, and who knows, in your genre that may work. More often than not though it's a big turn off to industry people when your ego appears to be bigger than your non existant discography warrants.

Good luck,
RD

This group of forums is filled with honest, helpful people with common interests. Perhaps you should start over and just ask what it is you need to know. I mean no disrespect and wish you the best as far as your music goes. There is much to learn here. Take some time and look around. jmho, Dave.

No offense intended here, but....... my observation (from watching the news, tv, radio, mass media, etc...) is that

BE A BIGGER A$$HOLE = GET SHOT MORE TIMES = GO TO PRISON = GET MORE RESPECT.

Unless you are 50 Cent, then it's:

BE A BIGGER A$$HOLE = GET SHOT MORE TIMES = GET A BETTER MOVIE DEAL = GET MUCH LESS RESPECT.

I will never understand why "BIGGER A$$HOLE = MORE RESPECT" What is the point of being a bigger asshole to everybody??

Anyway, I didnt' think your track sounded that bad, it was a lot better than some of the other stuff floating around out there. I dont suppose you would care to tell us what this "$20 mic" is or what those "mixing heaven headphones" are??

You make a lot of assumptions. I dont have "credentials." I have some decent gear, and I have some small amount of valuable experience to share if the right question is asked. And with all due respect, you dont have any idea what I thought.

But I am the kind of guy who will be curious and listen just to see if you really have any room at all to mouth off to people. If you dont have any room to talk but you talk anyway, that makes your word more common and your contribution less valuable. If you have room to talk and you talk anyway, that makes your word less common but your valuable contribution will be dismissed more easily, and leaves us with a sour opinion of your ego. If you have room to talk but choose to keep your talk to yourself and let the recording speak for you, that makes your word much better and your contribution more valuable, and makes people much more interested in your information.

And yeah I also think the billboard in your sig line is waaaay over the top. What good does it do to post that kind of advertisement in here?? It's like trying to sell art to a painter.

Where I come from, and where most of the rest of the (non-rap) world comes from, this equation has worked for many centuries:

GIVE MORE RESPECT = GET MORE RESPECT.
