Hello

I'm hoping someone could take a listen to the mp3 online at
http://www.purevolume.com/jukeboxtesting

...and advise on how we should go about improving the mix, or if the mix is ok, how to go about 'mastering' the track

We're using protools LE and have access to T-Racks and to Ozone

The mix sounds ok to us through our monitors but at the moment the volume is quite low so we'd like to boost that and try to make it sound a bit more ballsy

When we try to run this through the mastering presets we're getting all muddy or overcompressed or boomy.

Thanks in advance

This is a really great mix IMHO - no problems as far as I can hear. Balance, tone, eq, panning, vocals all sound great - good job.

Good song too....

Sorry I can't help you with mastering - that is an art in itself isn't it?

Maybe ask over in the Mixing/Mastering Forum after you've gotten some more feedback on the mix here...

Great!

:) :D :) :D

not bad imo. the song was good, i like the structure, the song kept interesting.

I think some mastering could help.
tame some of the distorted guitar. vocals sound good. Bass and kick seem to always clean up with some mastering from my minor amount of listening here.
that contest going on was like WOW!! the ME really cleaned it up...a few of them did, some made it worse.

cool thanks

I've been back to the mix in the last hour, had cabin fever and had missed quite a lot of peaking going on on my guitar tracks due to some EQ boosts

Hopefully that should tame that distorted guitar a little.

I'll hold fire for a while and see if I can get any further feedback before I take the querry over to the mastering board - it surely is an art in itself, and a bloody expensive one from what I can make of it. I think we're probably going to have to give it a go as best we can on our own as theres no affording a pro!

The mix sounds good to me. Vocals could do with some volume automation as theres times where the vocals are hard to hear.
Guitars sound a little loud on the right channel. Maybe a little too much crunch in the guitars. Could bring down the hi mids a tiny bit at around 1-3KHz.

If you are having trouble mastering, I will master one of your tracks for free if you like. And if you like my mastering job then I can mix more for really cheap.

Let us know what you think.
