Hi guys!

Ok so here's the situation. I have all my tracks in AD routed out of the virtual instrument and into separate audio tracks. Everything is routed properly but I am getting anywhere's from a .1 db to a 1db clip on the overhead track in Pro Tools. It is being caused by the snare. Is this ok, cause of course in the Addictive Drums mixing board there is no clip on anything.....Do I need to adjust for this?

Hi,
I'm not sure how big a problem it is, but I generally just pull down the faders in Addictive drums until the meters in ProTools look happy.

More often than not the AD presets are pretty hot!

Yea seems like the most logical thing too do....Just didn't want too mess with the preset too much but I guess that wouldn't change allot. Will give it a try!

You should mess with the presets. The amount of "snare" in the "room" and "overhead" stereo sets can fundamentally change the sound, often for the better. Yes, and just turn the fader down if it's clipping, but if you like the balance, turn everything down by the same db amount...

i use SSD4 but just want to say i turn up all the tracks in the VST to unity and then control it in the DAW.. am i doing this wrong.?. it's just that i think of it like 'mics don't have volume knobs so i should just turn everything to 0db and control in the DAW. no?

I'm sure someone will gladly explain why it no longer matters in digital audio.....but.....
If you see a meter that's clipped, turn down the thing before it.
If you turn down the thing after it, you're just lowering the volume of a signal that has been clipped.

but the preamps do.... ;)

I can't speak for SSD4, but AD doesn't just represent mics. There's a full blown mixer, compressors, eqs, reverbs, distortions etc.
Even if you turn all that off, it still emulates kit, mics and mixer.
