A friend od mine who is an ace on tube amps built me an amp. It's a five watt tube amp Based on the late fifties tweed fender app.
I had a fender mustang head, like fits a 4 12 slant cab. He took that head And cut the chassis. Then he loaded it with the fender tweed amp circuit. It's a 6L6 app. He put a hard to get rectifier tube in it that has some sag. It has a volume and a master tone knob...thats it.
Ohh my goodness!!!
At "sitting around the living room" volume it sounds amazing!
ZZ Top LaGrange all day long!

Here's some pics. Im going to trim around the cutout...maybe I dunno. Its going to sit on my 4/12 slant cab thats loaded with celestions. Thats a 4 ohm load. Amp should scream though that cab.
Its switchable from 4 ohm (the master 1/4 " is the 4 ohm input and the reverb is the 8 ohm). Im gonna have to ask him what the toggle switch on the bass input is. May be a ground switch or a stand by. All point to point hand wired!
Im goi g to try and record some clips tomorrow

I found out what the toggle switch is for. It turns the negative feedback on and off.

Im kind of a
jammed up on recording right now. My "studio" is full of truck parts and my recording stuff is boxed up. Thst being said, im still experimenting with speakers. I have it hooked up to 4/12's slant cab loaded with celestions. Sounds REALLY good on the high end but bass is too flabby. May need an eminence speaker.
I have speakers running out the ass but they are all 16 ohm.
Im not going to hook up my recorsing gear to record a sample until get the right speaker.
Or
I get the builder to tighten the bottom end up a bit with a resistorbor something.
It sounded pretty dang good through a 1/12 eminenence loaded combo amp.
