I was in my studio last weekd and had an odd experience. I had a static noise coming from the board. Only when on input or listening to tracks. Not when listening to a dat tape or CD threw the board. Finally, turned off the adats and the noise was gone. This drove me nuts trying to find the source. It happened again so I turned off adats then turned them on again and static was gone. Make sence to anyone? Is there a static problem with adats I'm not aware of? Or is this some kind of fluke thing. I' ve eliminated everything in my chain of stuff., Jim

A little insight here....

ADAT's, especially Type I's had a tiny weeny little clitch every once every so often. It was not a big issue so Alesis didn't really need to address it per se.

The D/A converters on the ADAT recalibrate DC offset while they are not being used. Here and there, they don't reset it, and noise ensues. I am guessing that is what happened here. Not every ADAT does it, and I have never personally heard it, but read an article by a independent source that evaluates equipment that made comment of this.

If it starts happening a lot (like more then once every couple weeks) take the machine in and have it looked at. Otherwise, just reboot the machine if that solves the problem.
