I have a friend who is trying to get rid of his Fostex d-90 because he bought it and then never really used it. Ive been looking for a way to upgrade my current set up of 8 tracks to 16. This seems like a cheap way for me to do this but the one question i have is, Can these two units sync together in the same way a 2 adat system would?

If you're trying to slave the 90 to the 24, I believe the answer is no.

sorry not clear i guess

Sorry, i guess i wasnt clear enough. Im trying to figure out if a Fostex d-90 can sync with my Alesis Lx-20 adat. Is there anyway to do this?

After checking with a friend of mine, an LX tracks can be transferred via ADAT lightpipe to the D-90, but cannot be synched 2-gether.

thanks

Thanks Misterqcue,
I read through the manual and I came to the same conclusion. I just wanted to make sure that there wasnt some way to sync i didnt know about. Im not the most technical person. I guess its time to get back on e-bay and start looking for a deal on another adat. Thanks again

Until I upgraded to a Fostex D2424 I regularly connected an ADAT via a J L Cooper sync box (MTC) to my D90s without a glitch.

I have even had 2 ADATs and 2 D90s synchronised together and happily transferring 16 tracks via optical cable.
