OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! This whole time i've been under the impression that you had to have a frame for the 703. I have an insulation store not to far from me. I'm going to call them and see if they have it. Hopefully so. Spi is a kinda far drive for me.

Faom absolutely has its place. It is not the whole solution, of course, it cannot do what bass traps do, but it is good at doing what it is meant to do.
Absolutely!

i bought foam from ebay. it looked pretty good.

i just googled foam by mail and that stuff looks pretty useless. the quality just looks...thin.

when the studios at my old school were being built, we had class in the studio before it had foam. we noticed a bunch of reflections with no foam, a still a bit without ceiling foam, and much much less reflection with our bass traps, ceiling, and wall foam treatment.

if you get good stuff, it definately has its place.

the walls were made out of this special stuff. they didn't say what it was, and i've never seen what 703 looks like, but i think the foam was more usefull than the paneling we had. not hating on the 703...i'm just saying that's what i heard

the foam by mail pictures of the foam look poorly photoshopped/edited too.

i would not buy from that company.

I called spi today and they said i could get oc 703 fiberglass for 1.19 a sq foot. For 2 by 4 panels, thats basically $10 a panel. I'm going to probably be using a closet for vocals in the new house and i really don't feel like gluing foam and messing up the walls. How many panels would i need for a small walk in closet to be efficient(don't have dimensions yet)?

Ok, generally you are going to need to buy a whole bale. That is a two foot high stack of panels You didn't say what the thickness is at that price per square foot.

So your bale is either going to have 24 one inch panels, or 18 inch and a half panels or 12 two-inch panels or eight three inch panels or six four-inch panels.

Since you can just stack them up I usually just get one inch panels so I have the most flexibility. It is highly doubtfull that your closet will require more than one bale.

The rule is the thicker you make the trap the better the bass absorbtion. Two inches is fine for the highs and mids.

Some would disagree with me but even for Bass traps I don't go over four inches. Why? Because even though a six inch trap would get just slightly more bass Two six-inch traps aren't going to do a better job than three four-inch traps.

So mu suggestion is to get your bale and then try some bombo of four inch traps in the corners and some two inch traps on the walls for the slap echoes. Contrary to some folks approach you do not have to cover every square inch.
