I currently have a pair of Alesis Prolinear 720DSP monitors, and I love em, but like all of us, I want to upgrade.

So I've been reading reviews, and asking around, and everyone has mentioned the following.

Event Precision 6 Actives

or

Blue Sky Pro Desk 2.1

Both of them are $999.99, but I have NO experience with either.
Which of these are the better?
Is there another option for the same price that I'm missing?

I just got the Event Studio Precision 8's I was considering the Blue Sky's as well but I couldn't really find out much about them. The Event's are pretty nice, but all I had was crap before so anything sounds good to me.:D

The best advice I can offer is to try and A/B them at your nearest music retailer. Let your own ears be the judge!

Nearest music supply shop is 112 miles away, so that's not an option for me.

In two weeks I have bought three pair of IMF monitors. They're vintage speakers from the late seventies/early eighties.

I now have the Compact II, the Compact monitor 2 and the ALS40II.

Next week I will collect a pair of Super compacts.

Tonight we collected the Compact monitor 2's and these are the best sounding nearfields I have heard in a long time, a nice deep bass, perfect mids and the hi end is super.

The stereo image is incredible.

I've payed 80 euro for the Compact monitors, 50 euro for the Compact II and 150 euro for the ALS40's.

You can call me happy.

Look here: http://www.imf-electronics.com/ and find a pair of these great speakers.

The Prolinear are the better ones I came across many other... I personally find no point replacing them with Events or Bluesky .... Maybe Genelec or DynaAudio will do.

monitor orientation

I've seen monitors used both horizontally and vertically, any difference or just personal choice?

Most of them are designed to be "vertical": that is, the tweeter above the woofer, to avoid comb filtering.
