Wrong Brian! But wrong the 'other' way. Get a large Neve, SSL or AMEK 9098, a couple of 2" Studers ...... and you still won't be able to do half of what you can do on a good DAW.
I've done a 100% turn-round within the last 2 years, from being a totally committed large format console / 2" tape person to fully digital. The minute I discovered that high quality converters and accurate sync clocks can make digital sound at least as good as, if not better than analogue, I firmly closed the door on analogue.
Now, if I have to work in a studio with a large analogue set-up, I have my pro tools rack with me to do all sorts of stuff that would take me forever in analogue, or worse, a lot of it is almost impossible in the analogue domain - unless you want to start making copies of tape and cutting and glueing tape together!
