Don't do me any favours, moron.................

What an ass....

Geez; don't let this be another Cloneboy vs. Seifer-like thread. Get your act together and act like the pro you claim to be.
Lighten up dollfaces! :)

I just want everyone to know...I love you all...weather you like my mix or not...:)

Excuse me for responding to clueless individuals who apparently feel like sniping me for whatever reason........

Fuck..... seriously.... some people really need to get a grip... and a clue!

As for the "pro I claim to be" remark.... I don't claim anything - I own and operate a fully-equipped commercial recording studio as my only source of income. Call that whatever you like............

Just relax. It's a relaxed mixing contest. The better guys should go easy on the noobs, allthough the noobs will claim to be the best and have done everything correctly.
Maybe you don't claim to be a pro. Mybad. But hey; the more u smack up wannabies that claim to have done everything correctly; the less pro you are in my eyes.
Have fun mixing.

Was that directed towards me or the other guy?

I felt i maintained a proper, respectful tone to my posts.

And if any of you feel that I was inappropriately butting into other people's comments, I have one thing to say: Its a public forum.
You wanna say something to someone without anyone else seeing it? Its called a PM.

I'm not trying to be a jerk. We should stick to constructive comments and critiques (how this thread started out) and not resort to mix-bashing or personal insults as some people have begun to do.
Off topic threads belong in the cave, not here.

No problem. None taken. By the way, those that are referred to as noobs doesn't mean they haven't been doing this for a while.
The fact that they joined the forums 15 days ago does not mean that they started mixing on that same day.

I just hope we can stay on topic and be constructive from now on. Lets get back to the music and see who has done something cool with their mix.

BTW, does anyone know when PMC #9 will start?

Nice mix man.
Autotune on the vox? Sounds pretty good.

Critiques:
1) The last hit in the first drum crescendo sounds kinda nasty. Too abrasive and sounds kinda dead in my opinion.
2) I would bring up the cymbals a little <--- this is a small thing that i am probably just really picky about.
3) I think the guitar solo is maybe just a tad too loud.

Otherwise, i think it is very good.
Nice job.

I thought your 'solos' were a little more tasteful than the ones that we have.
Good stuff, geet.
Did you compress the acoustics at the beginning to death for an effect? Just wondering b/c it is a little distracting.
I also thought the kick was maybe just a little bit abrasive in the mix.
Otherwise, the mix is done pretty well!
Keep up the good stuff.

I did compress it for effect, I was trying to make it sound like an answering machine, or a phone, or just a cheap cassette recorder. I was going to sample an answering machine rewinding and turning on and all, but I was too tired.

If I feel up to it, I'll go back over the mix again.

Thanks, duder.

Anyone else? Bruce?

Also, I think everyone should just learn to laugh a bit more on these boards. People take everything a little too seriously. Bruce may be a "professional", but why should that mean he has to ALWAYS be professional? This is the internet and people do come here to pass time. Why not have fun and joke around a little when doing so? I also don't think that he and the other professionals should be ragged on for what they do for a living.

Everyone, just take a deep breath and smile. :)

jaz
thanks for feedback

yes it was autotune < -big fan of it, kind of punk rock mix fan
on the crescendo thing, it was the kick and tom mix, im supposed to cut that tom at that part.
somebody told me that most of my mix have always a boost-up cymbal, so i lessen my cymbal greed.
i never thought my guitar solo was too loud, am i deaf? :D

jeremy

i like that clicks (drumsticks) so dont bother me :P

thanks for critique guys

Sorry man... didn't see this. I was too busy watching the fight.

I didn't track this, but I do know the details about the tracking.

Tascam 788
Drums-
snare - sm57
kick - that cheep cad kick mic
Toms - Cad tsm411 (or whatever it's called)
Overheads - Studio Projects B1s
Vocal - B1
Acoustic guitar - Ibanez (lefty) old dead strings, B1
Rhythm guitars - 5150, 4x12, sm57
clean guitars - (same)
Solo guitar - Line 6 flextone, Sm57

Pre were the built in 788's and an Audiobuddy.

Weighing in an opinion

Bear's mix is best hands down. Excellent overall balance and outstanding command of the low end. The mix is very natural sounding. It sounds good without gimmicks.

The only part I didn't like about his mix was the hard panning of the background vocal.....

I don't know Bear or Strave from "boo" so I have no allegiance to either of you but I would offer Strave one thought to think about:

"It is better to be silent and be thought the fool, than to speak (or post) and remove all doubt."

The Strave mix is severely overprocessed and unnatural sounding, Very unmusical. Not even on the same planet as Bear's....

This is my first "real" mix. I did it so I could test out mixing on my new monitors. It's horrible compared to a lot of the mixes already posted, but any and all constructive feedback would be VERY much appreciated. I want to get better at this stuff.....

Alright, I'll throw my hat in.

I basically did some experimenting on this one ... and this is just sort of where I felt it would be fun to take the production in my head. Not necessarily where I would take it if I was charged with the responsibility of the actual mix :D ... but definitely where I had some fun with in a "what if I did this" kinda' way.
