A couple of interesting tidbits on the TASCAM 388

I've found these on the net and thought I'd post 'em here. Seemed pretty interesting, at least to me.

First one is a link to a 1985 news group posting by some fellow who saw the 388 in a store .. Click HERE to read the entire thing.

Ha! Nice find!

First, I didn't know they had online message boards in 1985! That, in itself, is amazing!

That is cool. Those are the old dejanews lists archived by google. I've never seen one that far back though. Well back into the 90's but not the mid 80's. Thats right in the middle of when I was really starting to have fun recording. Good stuff.

20 years, geez! Funny, I don't look that much older.

Yeah and $2895 in '85 is like $5000 in today's money!! ...... and "for only $5000!" LOL!

... man, only $2895... i just bought a 388 in really excellent shape with 5 reels of 457 and a quicklok stand for the thing for $300! i'm psyched to start working with it. i just checked out the pre's with a humble 57 and i must say i'm impressed. pretty damn cool.

Yeah, but $2895 is about $5000 in today's money. Just thought I'd slip that in, lest you forget...
