488 mk2 sync will this work

i have a tascam 488mk2 and i was wondering if i got the tascam mts-30 midi tape sync box and another 488mk2 can i sync the two of them up. if it worked i know it would olny be 14 tracks beacuse it uses track 8 for the sync track. i know it is possable with the tascam 238 syncast.
