All 3 of these songs were recorded on the Boss BR-8 with out any out board gear or effects ( i.e.: No preamps or effects). I wanted to see what kind of sound I could get with nothing more than an SM58 for vocals, and all instruments being plugged directly into the BR-8. Even the acoustic guitars went in direct. No micing. And all of the percussion comes from the BR-8's rhythm machine.

I am open to any comments or suggestions. I am looking to rerecord all of these and would like to know what people liked and what they didn't like.

Thanks for any feed back.

The songs can be heard at http://djbreck.iuma.com

Thanks for letting me know. I have been using it a lot this week and you are correct...It seems to be down right now. The main www.iuma.com site is up and if you put breckheimer in for the artist search I come up, but it will not open up my main site. I hope they get this fixed quickly.

Please try again if you get a chance. Thanks for the effort.

PS I just went back and tried again and it looks like none of their artist pages are working. The front page seems to be one of the only pages working. I'm sure they'll get it up and running soon. Thanks again for tipping me off.

You have a lovely family. You have some guitar playing talents also. I like the sounds of the clean guitars as they seemed to have been recorded well. Your Dirty tone is very nasal-ly (From the Nose). Sounds quite out of place, and harsh to listen too. I was happy when it would stop, but your playing was good... Just work on that tone. Nice Page too!

Rats, Fangar beat me to it. Your family is indeed beautiful. :) What a cheery web page!

Listening to Big D. Nice and clean. I might have put a little more bite into the clean guitars- a touch more punchiness. A bit like the rythm in Psalm 1.

The panning is kinda funny in Psalm 1, but I've had it going in the background (while posting to the "Christianity" Thread in the Cave, incidently  ) and I found that after a couple listens it really grew on me. Coolness! I also like the vocals, I can't really understand them, but its a really neat effect.

Good stuff!! It sounds like you've had a lot of fun with it.

Thanks for the listen guys. My "dirty" guitar sound alos gets on my nerves. I have thought about re-recording these and replacing those lines with the mansolin, but I think your right...I really just need to work on my actual sound and tone. AND thanks for all the comments on the family. they are the reason I'm always recording direct and able to mic anything. They are always running around me while I record and then I just wait until Mama takes them out somewhere before I try laying down some vocals.

Thanks again!!

Sounds Familiar to me, the little mice squeaking about...this way and that. I only have 1 daughter, but she is 11 months and fast as mercury. She also likes to sing, so If I am playing a miced acoustic, I always get these little sqeaks and giggles in the background. Thinking about leaving them in some of the songs =).
