Chillin In The Burbs

The first completed song to come out of my makeshift college apartment studio but I'm pretty happy with the results. Be weary, this shit wont sound like anything you have ever heard before but be open-minded and try to see my vision. Keep in mind who I am marketing to. Lemme know what u guys think (especially on my mixing since this is the first shit I have ever mixed).

Great song...loving the throwback feel...definitely a track to ride to. Vocals sounding real good. I'm used to hearing beats that drop...so I almost wanna say this needs bigger drums and bass....but I don't know...it might already be perfect.

You might be on to something...Yeah some may call it wack, but as long as you talking about how your really livin' I can't fault you, playa. To me it ain't half bad. Real laid back. Keep doin' it, stay consistant. I'm interested to see how that's going to be recieved....Keep us posted.

i like the old school feel to it..the flow is nice..i love different stuff..and like MJ said it got a nice laid back feel to it..real nice work..stay up..stay active and welcome to the fam..

I like the old school feel. Reminds me of some early 90's west-coast style beats... the drums are a little week.

Content... not my thing at all. But do you!

Mixing... it's not mixed very well. Vocals are a bit hot, especially the hook. The beat doesn't have any "power" to it. It's hard to feel because it doesn't pound and the snare doesn't snap very hard. Feel me?

Yeah man. I got so fed up with all the bullshit I hear on the radio, I decided to make a song that was the complete antithesis of what "rap" is supposed to be. Even on these forums I think a lot of people claim to be "hood" or whatever you call it when they really aren't. I'm just bein me.

POETS:

Originally the beat did have harder drums but I found em too pronounced for the super laid back vocals. By "hot" do you mean loud?

Oh yeah, and the first time I sat back and listened to the beat, I imagined my self rollin down the avenue in cali in a droptop cadi. I decided to add my spin to it though instead =P

track is definently different lol..... kinda funny just how it go against tha grain so much..... but whats ur setup cause im a college student to and im in nearly tha same situation where i dont really have the room to have a lot of equiptment and no room treatment......

Here's everything I got:

Yamaha 10/2 mixer
Studio Projects B1 mic
M-Audio 2496
M-Audio Keystation 49e
CubaseSX 2 and Reason

No treatment or anything but thats my next investment after I get some nicer headphones
