Can some of you help me to decide what is compared for quality & money wise the best way to buy.
I allready got all the mics for my drumkit the only thing I'm now looking into is a firewire soundcard with hopefully enough inputs to do multitrack and offcourse any mixer and/or mic pre-amps. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this I was thinking of MOTU 828 of Edirol FA-101 firewire card with a behringer pre-amp, but offcourse I also would like to hear all your advices on here what even might be better.

do you have a mixer ?
if not consider a yamaha mg.
one fun program ive turned drummers onto thats highly addictive is band in a box from pgmusic.com. it creates a back up band in software for you,
very good for practising styles of drumming against. you can get whats called a megapack with all sorts of styles under the sun.
but its a tad pricey. a lot of drummers tell me they like it because they can get like a 2 drummer thing happening playing off each other. just try the demo. its also a great tool for staying on time.
on mic pre's for the money you cant really beat dmp3 or rane ms1b.
put a couple of crown pzm's mics xy over a live kit with triggers to samples in a sampler...and i heard this exact set up produce great tracks once in
a big studio with a great drummer.
a tip - if your considering firewire ...there are tons of products coming out...
just make sure any firewire product is compatible with your pc.
and its internal firewire support. i'm a puter engr and its very important.
if you list your pc confign IN FULL including anything in pci slots i'll try and spot any potential problems.

Better list everything you have first, w/specs if neccesary. i.e. What kind of PC/Mac you have and what software. Seriously. Down to the cables you have. People will have a better idea what you need then.

Microphones:
Snare - Shure SM-57
Bass drum - Sennheiser MD421
Toms - AV-Jeve toms mics (not superb high stuff but give me good enough quality)
Overhead - Still to Decide on new ones.

I now have 2 behringer mixers (EURORACK UB1204FX-PRO & EURORACK UB1202) I bought these a couple of months ago but I didn't know anything about homerecording so these things are not good to use for multitrack recording.

Cables are just XLR cables.
I have both a mac G4 and PC and both have Cubase on them.

I hope this is enough information.

Just trying to figure out what you can get away with doing with plugins, and if you should upgrade your A/D/A...

PC - AMD 2800 mhz & 512mb ram
Mac - 866 mhz & 1.24 gb ram

Soundcard, that's what I'm asking for a good working firewire soundcard...

Monitors...just a Sony amplifier with Mission speakers other wise I also have Beyerdynamic headphones for the clicktrack (to use with drums)
 
You can pick up MOTU 2408 mkII's for half nothing on ebay right now. They might be worth a look at... They have word clock and ADAT in/out so they are pretty upgradable.
Good monitors are very very important. I like the mission speakers to listen to actually, I have a pair in my kitchen, but they will be a weak link come mixing time.

Your PC specs look decent...have a look at vst plugins from UAD, Sonalksis, and PSP.
 
pc is good. should be able to do a slew of tracks.
how many drive ? two are preferable ...8mb cache preferably.
what do you have in your pci slots ?
if you list your cards i'll mention any potential probs.
