10,000 hrs on heads ? Yeah, I'd say that it has "some" wear! LOL!!

Call me crazy, but...

I read this as [para] 'head wear that's noticeably affecting the 10kHz range',... not 10,000 hours. That's just me, though. Chatsworth's close. If I had the desire or interest I'd check it out, but I don't. ;)

I think you're right. It could be, but isn't it a hell of a way to put it ? If the seller just wrote straight up, as you did, then I certainly would have not wasted bandwidth on this. Still, it goes to show, even if he meant 10khz, that one deals with numerous personalities on eBay and it's a maze sometimes ... Ahh .. forget it... I'm out! :D ;)

I read the guys blurb and I'm leaning toward him indicating that the deck's got 10,000 hours of use.

Bottom line; they'll need a re-lapping and fresh calibration plus the work needed on the brakes. Throw in fresh rubber parts and the perspective buyer is looking at about a 500 dollar repair bill or more. At that price, this machine might be better as a parts deck for the $100 bucks it's currently priced at in the auction. For 100 bucks, it's a decent deal.

Cheers! :)

10,000?

I thought he meant ten thousandths inch. ".0001". wear. Or maybe .0002". Actually, .0002" wear is quite alot. But not as bad as .5000"!

By way of this guy's puzzling auction description, anyone of us could be right. ;)

Same here.
That's what he meant, obviously!

He reluctantly sent me a picture of the record head... whatever else he was trying to say, as you can see it looks pretty ugly. This is magnified x10 so be advised.
