I'm going to be heading to the shops on Denmark Steet here in London to get my stuff in the near future and hopefully buying from a shop

I'm in London too. Where is Denmark Street? I was thinking there must be actual shops that I could get this stuff, cause as you say - some of the online shops aren't too helpful. Would be nice to try out and get advise before parting with the money. Think you can get the EMU 4040 for around £100. It's been an excellent USB interface for me; although I hope to upgrade to a firewire interface when I get a new computer! :D

Hi Tojo.

I'm using an EMU 4040. It's not high end stuff, but has served be very well since it's purchase - Nice clean pre's and converters.

Really want to get a Mac as a designated computer for my music. What DAW are you using?

Hey do you mean what software do I use? If so, I use logic express. It's awesome; it's so powerful, I haven't just scratched the surface (haven't even used the sample editor!!)

Yeah, sorry, I did mean what software. Logic express eh, never had the pleasure of using that. I kno what you mean about not touching the surface! I've been using Reaper for the last few months and am still struggling with all the controls.

You ever used Garageband? I've heard it's supposed to be quite basic, but I can imagine it being really useful if you're not trying anything too complicated (like me)

yeah logic is sick. garageband actually will do the trick for simple stuff. It's got unlimited tracks, decent instruments, and effects. It's audio editing is a little sketchy, and the little things annoy me (not being able the size of a track for example)

but yeah, and garageband 09 is out now, and it looks sweet with good guitar amps.

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd post to let you know the results of all my USB interface searches.
I ended up going with the E-MU 0404 USB interface and a cheap c-1 Behringer condenser mic.
I'm very satisfied and have been getting great sound quality. The E-MU just works like a dream and combined with the C-1 I can finally get recordings that aren't awash with hissing and low quality sound. I'm actually able to record my acoustic guitar in all its glory - pick sounds, warm strumming - and the vocal is also warm and full.
Thanks to this site for inspiration and the guidance of reviews.

I'll post a song in the MP3 clinic one day for you all to rip to shreds ;-)
