Learning, always learning
I hope it isn't so, but here is an email posting from one of the Yahoo groups I'm on:

"Maybe I have been out of touch for a while but I just went through all the dealers of
RMGI in the US and it seems no one is selling 1/4" reels of tape anymore. What gives?
Anyone know where I can order a few rolls of SM900, SM 911, SM468?"

Can anyone verify the lack of 1/4"???:confused::(

The RMGI dealer here in Cyprus (in the eastern Mediterranean) was on the phone to RMGI only yesterday to confirm an order for 40 reels of 1/4" 468 on 10.5" metal NAB spools for us.

From what he told me, and this is a person I trust as much as anyone, RMGI are alive and well and making 1/4" tape and our order will be shipping next week.

Best regards,

I guess that means I'll have to start "dumping" all that crap I have on my old 456 reels to cassette or cd, erase the reels and reuse them. Again, and again, and again. No??? That might be true. I sent an email a while back to splicit asking about buying some 1/4" tape. Like some 911 or something. I got zero response. So I never wrote back either. We'll have to buy some 2" reels, take them to the local supermarket deli and have them "thinly sliced" please!

The price difference (after "slicing") wouldn't be that much different.:D

Who knows, maybe they are just slow to ship another batch to the US?

I see RMGI now make instrumentation tape. Good news for the people with digital reel-to-reels.

I noticed they are adding lines, including VHS tape and logging tape, but I haven't seen the digital open-reel yet, which I guess would be 931 like the old BASF.

LTS in Cardigan Bay are apparently feeding their Mitsubishi X850 on 1" digital instrumentation tape. I imagine the digital Nagras would work on the 1/2" stuff just as well.
