    New Radiohead Cover (decent mix?)

www.myspace.com/tylerhoganmusic Hail to the Thief, the fan proclaimed second worst album, still has quite a few keepers in my opinion. Always such a hard band to make a decent cover of, but I enjoy a challenge. This one, "Where I End and You Begin", is pretty straight forward. I added a bit...

How would I get stereo input from only a 1/4" stereo output?

I have a yamaha DGX (505 I think, 88 keys), and I am currently recording with just a regular mono 1/4" cable. But, there is only a 1/4" stereo output on the back. How would I split these channels into my mixer, is there like a stereo to L R mono 1/4" cable or something?

Sufjan Stevens - John Wayne Gacy Jr.

www.myspace.com/tylerhoganmusic about the famous serial killer. I tried a lot of new things on this recording. I have a marimba home from school (still on Christmas break), so I've been using that a lot. Also, I wanted to make the vocals a bit electrical (somewhat Kid A'ish). Although, the...

Any clever/useful ideas for minimizing PC hum?

I've got a large diaphram and pencil condensor I use to mic most things in my studio (currently the bedroom I stay in when not at uni.) They sound great, but if I doing something delicate on guitar or voice, the computer hum becomes quite noticable when I have to adjust the levels accordingly...

    Beatnik Rhythmic Analyzer

Anybody familiar with this product? I'm looking for a new metronome. I was looking at the Tama rhythm watch previously, but this sort of caught my eye. My main concerns is how responsive the actual drum pad is, and how well it would work to just use as a metronome when playing with a concert...

    March of the Pachyderms

I just finished a rough draft of this song. I am planning on submitting it to a local music compilation CD, so any advice or suggestions you have would be great, thanks! www.myspace.com/tylerhoganmusic

Flexible Pair of Headphone monitors <$100

I am looking for a pair of headphone monitors that I will use for live, recording, and mixing. I want closed back (for recording drums and whatnot), something that really cancels out background noise. What positive results have you gotten with headphones under $100? I should mention that...

Live mic for female vocalists ($100-$200)

My youth group is upgrading some sound system equipment, I suggested we get some new microphones (as opposed to the 4 mics for $100 deal that we were using before, >_<). The vocalists are female, so a good high end in the mic would be ideal. Also, we have lots of problems with feedback (due to...

    Keyboard for Stage/Studio < 500?

I am looking for a keyboard that will work well in studio and live applications. I am mostly concerned with a realistic piano sound, some nice organs, and random ambient things like strings and choir ahhs. It doesn't have to be full sized or fully weighted keys, but still something easily...

    Looking into multi/effects for studio/live

I am pretty new to home recording, but I am looking into investing in some effects gear. I want something that will work well in both my home studio and live. Something that will work well with both vocals and guitars mainly. Reverbs, chorus's, delays, compressors, distortions, junk like...

New Cover: Damien Rice - Delicate

I cover Damo's track from O entitled "Delicate." It can be found here, www.purevolume.com/mistymarching I would love some feedback on a few things: 1. The dynamics of the vocals. I always have troubles keeping my vocals levels in place, they are either too soft or really loud. Because of...

    An oldie of mine

I have been writing and recording music for awhile, but this is sort of an oldie recording of mine. Anyway, I really love this song (its an original of mine), but the recording never seems quite right. http://www.purevolume.com/mistymarching (The song is Only Always) Any critiques or...

Problem with the output from my computer

Ok. I record with a Yamaha mixer into my Audiophile 2496 soundcard on my PC. I use Audacity to record and mix all my tracks. I normally record tracks separately. To do this, I will run an output back from my soundcard back into my mixer, so I can hear the first track in my monitor while I...
