    battery powered omni mic

I have the ATM10a. It's okay. Pretty well built. Sound is just so-so. I guess about what you'd expect in a $100 mic. I haven't used it much but I wouldn't get rid of it because there's no other battery-operated omni pencil mic that I know of and it doesn't cost a lot. It's a solid-built...

Looking forward to new Rode M3

Yeah, but I'm hoping it sounds at least okay. I could really use a battery-powered cardioid for field recordings with a minidisc.

Looking forward to new Rode M3

Well, I'm hoping it sounds like a KM84 - keeping my fingers crossed.

Looking forward to new Rode M3

Here's a video about it: http://www.harmony-central.com/theater/wnamm07_p8.html It's about halfway down, on the left side.

    Is it Me?

I have heard one. It really is nicer than the price would indicate. I haven't read their marketing materials but if I were getting a tube it would be that one.

Looking forward to new Rode M3

The NT3 does have its good points to it but it is a little light on the bass pickup and also can tend to be a bit harsh. My main concern is that the M3 will be an NT3 with a cardioid pattern. I'm hoping that the M3 would be more like an NT5.

    And like the NT3.

Looking forward to new Rode M3

Not out yet but could come in handy if it's got some bass pickup and is not too harsh. Nice that it doesn't require phantom and is supposed to be quiet. Not many other battery-powered cardioids around, when you think about it. And it's black -- about time they get away from the silver...

    M-Audio Sputnik

I've heard it in a comparison with some other mic's. I think it was on a different site. Sounded very good. Seems to be worth the money for sure.

How would you compare the Pelusos to the C42s? Is one better than the other?

Peluso vs Budget SDC's for Acoustic

I see you use the Avensons. I've heard them once and they sounded pretty good. Are you happy with them? I'm just not sure how to use them for live location recording. When I've used omnis in the past the results have been mixed due to the leakage. Just wondering if you could share a bit...

Peluso vs Budget SDC's for Acoustic

Thanks a lot, Jon. Yeah, it would be great to have a set side-by-side on location and then A/B later and pick your preference. You should keep us informed as you go along as to your impressions of the Beyers.

Peluso vs Budget SDC's for Acoustic

Mainly, Jon, I'm looking for something as a main stereo pair for location recording, bands or classical. Would you have any thoughts if the Beyer or Peluso would be preferable?

Peluso vs Budget SDC's for Acoustic

Thanks, Jon, that helped a lot! It was more detailed than what was expected. With the Peluso, what is the main difference between the card and the subcard caps?

I was wondering if you could compare the Pelusos to the MC930s?

    Recording a Piano recital

Marik, generally, in a situation where I don't have the opportunity to attend the rehearsal, where would you suggest to put two cardoids to record classical piano? If there is a question about the sound of the hall when it comes to heating and air conditioning noise, is it much better to go...

Convert MP3s to WAV first before resizing?

Thanks, Glen. I guess I'll just convert all the individual tracks to wav before working with them. As to your question "why not edit the source WAV file" ... the MP3 IS the source file. The material was originally recorded live to MP3.

Convert MP3s to WAV first before resizing?

Thanks, MadAudio. I hadn't thought about this (but now that you mention it) the editing software does seem to bog down a bit sometimes on playback of mp3, which I haven't noticed much with wav playback.
