so basically, i dont really know much about laptop recording.
what i am wondering is: are these 24bit usb firewire audio interfaces pretty good? cause, honestly all i would...
hey, i was wondering what everyone thinks of this song:
i have posted it before, but i did a little bit of tweaking to it: from adding some bass, to fixing the bassdrum, to lowering the vocals.
so i consider it pretty much done.
one other complaint was that it didnt sound like the whole band...

i kinda dont want to admit it, but its my girlfriend and I singin.
no drugs/alcohol added to this song. :)

Alright, heres my questions:
I have $250. I am recording mostly acoustic guitar and drums kinda stuff. I want a nice sound for the vocals. Should i get a nice mic, or a nice pre for $250?
I currently have a DMP3 as a pre; i guess its colorless
and a CAD GXL2200 for vocals

I was wondering if the spdif out of the v-amp pro would make a better sound than the 1/4" outs of the v-amp2. Basically, does spdif preserve the sound better?
thanks
I have been recording my guitar tracks through a vamp2 through a maudio delta 1010 and into cubase. i do 2 tracks for a guitar part, and pan them hard left/right. The problem is...
When i solo the guitar on the right, and look at a phase graph, it shows that the track is full to the right, and...

...i am a fan of reverb, so you might say its too reverby, but i kinda like it.. live-ish feel.
hey, i was wondering when u record guitar, do u mic the amp or the cab? or both? ... cuz i have a shitty line 6 spider amp, and whenever i record it, it sounds like crap. So, would a cab/new amp be of best interest? thanks.
Hey everybody,
well, before reading this, realize that i am a drummer, and not all a guitar player, nor should i ever be let near a guitar, because i suck. However, im trying to get a good tone for a punk rock guitar... and i have no idea what it should sound like...
So any suggestions on this...
Im recording a rock/punk band, and i always wanted to know, do u add reverb to the guitar at all? Ok, im feeling like this is the dumbest question in the world... but on like the riffs and just like powerchord strumming, do you add reverb to that?
thanks alot!
Hey, I was wondering how my snare drum sounds?

I recently bought a DMP-3 preamp, because it has gotten such rave reviews. I heard that pre-amps make a signal seem more transparent, and less distorted, when they are a good pre-amp. I was wondering if this is true? I record my guitar direct through a v-amp2, and i was wondering if the pre-amp...
Would it make any sense to record a guitar thru a v-amp2, and then have the single go thru a dmp3 mic pre? Would the dmp3 make the guitar sound any better, or it would do absolutely nothing besides boosting the signal?
Or likewise, would it make sense to run the guitar thru the mic pre, then to...
Hey, ive been using an old behringer mixer for my mic pre's .. and i think it sounds real crappy... so, im thinking about buying this
http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/item--BEHMIC200?trk=smx the Behringer MIC200 Tube Preamplifier .... anyone know if this is a good mic pre?
