Hello,
Anyone have any ideas on how he gets such a unique vocal sound? It almost sounds slightly flanged and breathy. Mic choice? Just his natural sound?
What do I need to do to enable a soft synth as a cakewalk midi output?
My computer says that it has MS GS Wavetable software synth as the default, AND that it is using Delta1010's 1/2 output as the output (this is my main audio monitoring output).
However, this output does not show as an...
A couple months ago, there was a post that had quite a bit of detail on step by step for mixing and efx use and order of application.
I've looked through a whole buch of posts, but can't find it. Anyone know what the title of it was?
I just got my delta1010LT card. I can't seem to get CWHS to multitrack with it. Under Options --> Audio --> Record Wave Device it seems you have to select only one input for the whole project. I want to assign a different input for each track. How to do this? PLEASE help! I've tried eveything...

I just replaced the crappy Harmon Kardon computer speakers that I was using for my little DAW studio.
They are some Cerwin Vegas that I selected for my mother about 12 years ago - AT-8s. She didn't need them anymore and I've got them plugged in to a reciever that's plugged into my soundcard...
Anyone done any DIY projects that they can show off?
I'm about to purchase some metal wall mount hangers from MF, but I would be interested in seeing some creative DIY projects before I do.
Too many guitars leaning around on stuff in my very small space!
Hello,
Anyone know if there is any good source for unmixed material - just the raw tracks. I'm trying to work on my mixing skills, but I don't really have a good source of good recordings. I get together with my neighbor and we do some stuff, but the quality and skill is not really great.
hello all,
I'm upgrading my native PC soundcard to a Delta1010LT.
My question is - what is the best way to get dynamic mics into the 1010? I don't want to spend a lot, but don't want a bad path into the card either. The 1010 inputs are R/L female RCA. The only feasible path I've found so...
I know that active sound canellation/reduction has been around for years for steady state and LF noise reduction - like say, for large compressors on buildings and stuff.
But with Bose's new headphones, it looks like the technology might be getting a little better. My understanding is that it...
Hi,
Anyone know if this is a known issue? I'm trying to patch a midi to a soft synth. I get the first 3 or so notes and then nothing else. If I press space bar for start and stop it will play the first 3 notes at any part in the song, but will always stop. I had it working last week, and...
I've looked at the Helmholtz calculator at SAE, and seen the postings dealing with them here.
My question is, wouldn't the length of the slats contribute to the frequency at which the absorber reacted? It's not included in the calcs, but it seems that it would be important. i.e. a marimba...
Hi folks!
I'm in a 11' x 18' x 8'-8"(H) space in my half-submerged basement. I was pondering how to do 2 things - 1) keep the drum sound down to the rest of the house, and 2) make my recordings better by deadening the quick reverb that causes phase problems in my recordings.
The drums take up...
Hi.
Anyone have any idea what the ratio of DAW vs. analog in modern production (pop)?
I am especially interested in productions that "sound" analog i.e. jazz, Norah Jones, retro rock etc.
What I'm getting at is an argument over what is "better" to get those warm fat sounds. My side of the...
Hello,
I'm tweaking and (hopefully) improving my home studio. I don't need to do a lot of simultaneous multitracking, but I do on drums.
I've got cakewalk, some decent dynamic drum close mics, some good condensor overheads , and I'm fairly happy with the raw input sound when I run the close...
I would think that you would want to have the "hottest" signal at the earliest point - but I'm unsure.
What's the proper way to set levels? Here's a sample signal chain...
vocals --> into run of the mill dynamic mic --> into Behrinhger mixer --> into standard PC sound card --> into Cakewalk...
I've had some limited experience in the studio, but I want to ask how most of you lay down your tracks. I know it varies with the situation - but can you generalize about the majority of the stuff you've done?
Say its a band with an original song. I assume you want to get the drums down...
