    A downtempo instrumental

Wanted to try my hand at making a downtempo piece. This one I call "midnight". http://home.comcast.net/~kitn13/music/midnight.mp3 Done on pretty minimal equipment in a room at home. I have done a few other things, so this is not a first effort. What do you think? Thanks. DC

    Ntrack Mix not loud enough

Since the Ntrack forum is currently down I thought I'd try this question here. I mix a song in Ntrack so that the loudest part of the song just clips, which I thought is the loudest I can make it without distortion. I then use Ntrack to make a stereo WAV file. But when I play this file back the...

    In case anyone is interested

I posted a song in the MP3 Clinic that is done on an MR8 and mixed with Ntrack. Thanks. DC

exhibit 1: one-man band with bad drum samples

I want to put this one up for some input, as I have learned a lot from putting tunes up previously and also just reading reviewers inputs and then listening to the songs they pertain too (Talk about run-on sentence). The song is on NoWhereRadio and is called "The Unanswered Question". Thanks...

Tried out built-in mic on MR8

I've been meaning to test out the built-in mic on the MR8, and I finally recorded this 2 minute diddling on an acoustic. I put new strings on the acoustic, but it did not make my playing any better. http://home.comcast.net/~kitn13/music/images.mp3 DC

    Naked amateur

I had done this some months ago and posted it to the Fostex forum. Since I am such an amateur I did not feel confident posting it here, but since it is quite naked I'd thought I'd throw it up (not literally). The song is "Starlit Sky"...

    Mediocre effort

I recorded this over this last week on my MR-8 and really don't think much of the result. Since everyone is always so generous I thought I post it anyway: the song is called "130 Seconds (reprise). By the way, I am now on Nowhere Radio...

Second piece of music done on my MR8

My new routine is to record tracks on the MR8, move them to the PC and then do the mix with n-track. A 256M card capacity serves me just fine. I call this song Starlit Sky. DC http://home.attbi.com/~kitn13/music/starlit.mp3

Second post of a song, first time through a real mix

I posted this song a couple of weeks back. It was pulled directly from a Fostex MR-8. I got some good suggestions as to what's not working on it. This weekend I started playing around with n-track, and as a result ended up with this mix of the song. Please have a listen and let me know of any...

    n-track sound processing

I have just started playing around with n-track and have some questions. I am specifically interested in sound processing of already recorded tracks, and some of these questions really apply to any mixing software. I understand n-track comes with some effect plug-ins(?) like reverb and delay...

    Stereo WAV file into n-track

Can a stereo WAV file be imported into n-track? If it is possible, does n-track show 2 separate tracks once the file is loaded and I can then manipulate each individually? I don't have n-track yet, so I can't experiment to find out. I need this functionality for something I plan to do. Thanks. DC

    Hobbiest software

I can use some suggestions for inexpensive (under $200) software to process recorded tracks. I don't need multitrack recording capabilities. What I want to be able to do is bring in multiple mono tracks (WAV) at the same time into an application, be able to control panning, maybe add effects to...

What do you think of this basic recording

This is the first tune I recorded on my Fostex MR-8. It is mixed completely on the recorder with no processing done on the computer (not that I have the tools to do it either). This was done in kind of a hurry to see how the machine works, so the playing is a bit sloppy. I also noticed that...

Is there a way to do this?

If I have a stereo WAV file, is there software that will take that WAV file and separate it out into two WAV files, one for each of the left and right channels? Thanks. DC

A tune recorded on the MR-8

I posted this under another thread, but it seemed like nobody noticed it. So... I did this tune to learn how to use my MR-8. I was anxious to get it together so the playing is real sloppy, so don't trash me too badly. This involved a total of 10 different track takes, so several of them had...

    My modest effort

I put together this simple 4-track piece and like some opinions on it. The drums are done with a drum program. The guitars and bass is me done on a cassette 4-track. Thanks for listening. Digitcallous http://home.attbi.com/~kitn13/music/130SEC.mp3
