    External preamp for presonus firebox?

Can't say I'd really agree with that. I record using a firebox and a 57 and haven't ever had problems "driving" the mic. Just crank up the amp (you're not recording a tube amp at that low of volume are you?). I tend to use my blues jr, so it's pretty much the exact setup as yours Raslion...

Firebox, RND, and mixer- help my signal chain!

Gotta agree with that rant riffy- inserts should be standard, I couldn't believe it when I found out the firebox didn't have a way of inserting effects between the preamp and computer. So you'd say the preamps are on the same level as the firebox? And since you have a firebox and the mixer...

Firebox, RND, and mixer- help my signal chain!

So, I was reading about compressors over at tweakheadz site, and saw that I might have a problem. I plan on adding a FMR RNC (really nice compressor) to my setup. But, it needs to be added before the firebox if I plan on putting it compressed to track (which I do for certain uses, vocals in...

Anyone Ever Heard An Older Carvin Tube Amps ???

Yeah, fizzy is a good way to describe it, but I think a lot of marshalls sound that way as well. That's kinda what I meant when I said it didn't growl... which can be a sound to like, just not for me. That said, if you like the tone 350 isn't a bad price, although you hopefully already have a cab.

    Exporting the click?

run the audio out into an in line and record it. Why cant you just find the bpm on it? Unless you set up a more complicated tempo track, click tracks are generally just one setting; the bpm.

M-audio Firewire 410 VS. Presonus Firebox

depends on the computer your hooking it up to, and how. I like the firebox, but compatability issues keep me from fully supporting it; I hook it up through firewire cardbus into a laptop and had lots of issues getting it fully up and running. In fact I'm having issues with it still (it doesn't...

    I just bought the Fireface!!!!!

I like and use KRK rokit8's, and it seems to be a general consensus that they're good for the price. I don't think a woofer is necessary with that size either, the rp5's prolly so

Anyone Ever Heard An Older Carvin Tube Amps ???

I have a 2x12 combo. I haven't been able to find another one on the internet to get an exact model make, but it appears to be an x100. This gets wicked loud, and I bought it because it had a lovely twangy clean channel. The distortion is good, but in a metal sort of way. It doesn't have...

    Which Compressor

I plan on getting an RNC soonish. Since this sounds like it may be a problem, what type of settings are you using? Obviously it won't necessarily work for all, but just to get a ballpark idea since I'm going to be using a compressor for the first time when I get it...

    Which Guitarist Influenced You?

Clapton was the guitarist that first made me take notice of the instrument, and how it could be used to change emotions, something more than the rock radio hits I was listening to at the time. John Frusciante was the guitarist that most influenced the way I actually play the guitar. He...

    Orange Amp

I hear good things about them, and they're SS for sure. I plan on picking up the little 10 watter in a few weeks. Oh, and as far as recording I'd say it'd be fine, assuming you like the tone.

    limiter and compressor help

Ok, all of that makes sense. One question though, why run the final mix to two tracks? Is it L/R?

    KRK RP5 vs. Yorkville YSM2P

Well, first off I wouldn't suggest using headphones to get an idea of your bass response. It's gonna be outa whack when you put it through any speaker system. Second, I liked the rokit5's but they are a bit washy on the bass. If possible, splurge for the rokit 8's. Otherwise you'll probably...

What midi keyboard is right for me?

I'd agree with the CME keyboard linked above. I've only heard good things about their line of controllers. Make sure you actually try out different keyboards though. Depending on why you want to learn the piano, you might feel more comfortable playing semiweighted keys. I played the piano...

    limiter and compressor help

Ok, so let me see if I understand that correctly, as I'm just starting to brush up on dynamic processors... My main use for the RNC would be for vocals, so this would be my original signal chain: vox->mic->rnc w/ low ratio->cubase track Then, re-record the track with this chain cubase...

    limiter and compressor help

I've decided a compressor would be a good investment for my tiny studio. Sounds like the RNC is hands down what I'd want to get. From what I know on this, it can also be used as a limiter, right? But, is it suggested to run a limiter and a compressor in the chain? If so, what kind of limiter...

    Most Influencial Guitarist?

I'm suprised by the john frusciante love; I'm usually the only one who mentions him when this kind of thing comes up. what?! Hendrix had amazing skill. He's not my favorite guitarist, but hes pretty much the only person I've heard play that I was convinced he could make a guitar produce any...

    Krk Rp6 Vs Krk Rp8

I have the RP8's and really like them. Thats a pretty good hook up on the price too, I got mine just a bit cheaper, but that was from a friend who works at GC, so you won't get them much cheaper than that. That 6x6 room might be a bit small for the speakers, but with some room treatment I'm...

Small solid state amp - whats your favorite?

I'm looking to get a small (10watt preferably) solid state amp for practicing. I have a blues jr, but just don't want to run down the tubes and sometimes need something super easy to move around. I'm looking at the orange crush 10. Looking to get a crunchy/blues tone. Just something cheap...
