I got the Blue for $150 on ebay brand new through a dealer who owed me a favor. I'll probably still look into the Perception just because its at such a cost effective price. I'm going mic crazy, buying up every mic deal I see. Driving my GF nuckin' futs! lol
For vocals mostly, but possibly as a room mic for guitar cabs as well, mix the signal with an up-close SM57 or e609. I just won the Spark on eBay for a steal, but I'm also wondering if the AKG is a good mic..
I have the opportunity to get a Blue SPARK large diaphragm or an AKG Perception 120 large diaphragm. They both seem pretty comparable but I can get the AKG for about half the price of the Blue.. Which would you get?
EDIT: Just realized that the Raven is a DYNAMIC mic, and the Cardinal is a CONDENSER. Big difference lol I noticed that both the Cardinal and the Raven go on sale a lot and I might be interested in checking them out. Does anyone have any experience with these mics and know of the differences...
I'm planning to remove the trigger pads from an old Yamaha DD-50 and install 1/8 or 1/4 jacks for trigger input, and use the MIDI out from the DD-50 to input into my DAW. The DD-50 would basically be the "brain" of the drum kit and act as a MIDI controller in which I would assign various drumkit...

Thats bitchin'. haha. Do the midi signals come from my sound card from the 15 pin and then go to the midi out? If thats the case I can take the midi out into the midi in on my midi interface for my Mac right?
I have one of those 15 pin serial to midi cables and I was wondering if there would be a way to send midi info from my PC's sound card across that cable to my Mac. Basically play the midi info from software on the PC and have it record on the Mac in Garageband...
its the whole ring around that one cone just splitting to bits. im going to set these aside until i can replace the rings and make sure nothing else gets hurt. right now that cone is pretty much free floating =/
EH but I should refurbish both so I have equal sound coming from each. Look at what I get myself into.... Im already rebuilding a reel to reel because I couldnt test it before I bought it and come to find out it needs a lot of work. Ugh.
Oh theyre heavy alright, theyre metal boxes lol Hooked them up to my home stereo and they sound pretty good. 55 watts each and the frequency response is apparently 50hz to 20khz. When I opened them up one of them had some splitting in the foam around the cone. Just going to work on that one...
These were at a local Savers for $12.99. Seem pretty solid. Anyone know anything about these speakers? Online it looks like I might need to replace some gaskets and such but these might make some decent studio monitors, right?
well if i had 500 bucks laying around i would get a 002. im wondering if anyone knows of any older interfaces... i dont want to have to get an mbox or something. if this guy has the pci card for the 001 ill see if the 001 is compatible with my dino pc haha
ive always been a bit of both. started analog of course with mixers and cassette tapes, moved to pc and cakewalk software, and now i use both mac or pc sometimes both to get stuff done.
oh ok. then i guess what im asking is if theres a predocessor to the 002 mixer or something like that i could find fairly cheap that will plug right into this thing and fire up pro tools.
hey so yesterday i found an imac g5 1.6ghz with 2gb memory at a pawn shop for $250 and snagged it. it has os x 10.5.8 i believe and is installed with pro tools le 8! any chance i can find an older pro tools interface to work with this just to get me started? are there any old 888 units or...
lmao alright. i just want to be cheap lol but bottom line ill have to invest in the goods and ill be happier. i checked out some new samsons that seem pretty solid. i cant recall the model but they have kevlar cones and run about 250.
I ran across these AUVIO speakers at Radio Shack that they market as bookshelf speakers but they look like studio monitors! Has anyone seen, heard or experienced these things? Just curious because of the 49.99 price point and the fact that I would just need an amp for them. THANKS!.
