Fake Drums. How bad is it?

The chorus drum pattern is completely fine. It really drives the rhythm and gives the tune a foot tapper. But the verses could use a bit more simplicity I agree. Think "Home" by Philips Philips here. Just a straight 8 pattern for most of the song. While I'm not saying that you shouldn't...

Transmit The Dead - 3rd Song for Concept Album. [Hard Rock/Metal]

Try putting a high pass on the overheads if you haven't already to help with a bit of that boomy bass, also sum slight reduction around 500 hz might help tighten up things as well. The snare needs more punch, a bit too much high end still, also the cymbals have to much highs IMO, probably tone...

    Mastering digital mixes vs. analog

Though I know the heated debate that entails, I'd just like to hear a few opinions as to how, to me, it seems like digitally produced (electronica music) mixes can be pushed a little more than analog (rock, etc.) produced music. An example would be mixing say a trance or D n' B mix versus say...

Another one from the studio, Hard Rock Ballad

This wasn't my band I recorded btw, but yeah, totally forgot about inverting phase on the bottom snare *doh! Though it should've done it already when I eq'd it for more high end whilest having the top eq'd for meat. But I guess it didn't work out so well. Yeah, sorry about the kick, I kinda...

Rough Drums Mix for the band @thefireline

Same here, good kick sound very clear and crisp all around. Don't know what to say about that reverb, I can kinda see how you're goin for that Tommy Lee big sound, but we'll have to wait till the full mix.

Another one from the studio, Hard Rock Ballad

Hey guys here's a new mix from the studio, prolly one of my best yet, it's hard rock ballad with some screaming in it. I did some ad lib post production piano to add thickness and dynamics. Lemme know what you guyses think. "Break" by Amherst feat. Ken Luengo on piano...

A Guide to a Louder Mix

Well, I decided to indulge more in my knowledge of mastering by browsing the web for any tips. I came across this fairly lengthy but thorough article that breaks down different techniques while not simply persuading an engineer to simply slap on a maximizer, compressor, or limiter for the sake...

    Hard Rock

Pahaha, oh man, Holy Tool vibes batman!, I likes very much. I think when the transition part comes in after the intro, it got muddied up quite a bit, so a lot of punch got lost. So once I felt that build up come, I got all amped, then the muddy came, so I was like "awww, WTH?". No offense...

    "Spiral" Metal/Rock Original song

Sounds alright to me, though the ambiance and cymbals sound a bit "tinny" to me, kinda like that "music in a box" sound to me. Sounds like you have the overheads panned dead center or just one overhead was recorded. If you had two then it sounds as if you may have a phase issue going, can't...

Is there anywhere I can download the track?

Nice tunes as always Gonzo, mind if I can borrow the track to play along with the drums? Really groovy tune here.

    Michael's House (hard rock)

Lol oh man, sounds like the theme for some 80's hard ass-cop action-hero chuck-norris television show. Really nice tune as always, has that really ambient 80's classic rock hair metal sound to it. Not really too much I can input criticism-wise as of now.

New one from the band a lil Toolish for those who are interested.

Yes, the drums a recorded live, are you saying that they were bad? I'm aware of the vocal issue, sadly it is something I cannot really fix until we get an actual dedicated singer. Never did really notice too much wrong with the snare, I didn't want TOO much pop but I'll look into it.

    Liste up Futhermuckers!!!!!

Tempus, never heard of that kit before. Just looked them up now and they look pretty damn solid. 1970's fiberglass eh? I had a feeling it was something from that era lol. I'm sure these come pretty close in relevance to the ole Pearl birch/fiberglass kits?
