My computer is now useless (Includes: excerpts my letter to Toshiba)

After you call thier product a piece of shit, the possiblity you'll hear back are pretty non-existant. Insulting someone's product, or service is not 'a little fun'. Your music is a rancid, maggot infest piece of warm horse shit. You have less talent than a rapper. You and your 'music'...

My computer is now useless (Includes: excerpts my letter to Toshiba)

In writing letters to manufacturers, ending with an insult is the surest way to get your (possibly) well documented issues tossed in the circular file. jus sayin

help with my live setup please

auto-tuning your vocals live is an effect. You will not fool anyone into thinking your singing on key. It sounds mechanical and fake, just like it's supposed to. Also, it's not as precise as you might think. If you're not within shouting distance of the note you think you should be singing...

Noise on "New" System. Help Mr Wizard!

Also... and I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but I've seen it happen to the best of us - make sure your motherboard's on board sound is DISABLED.

I need a new PC, How does this look?

You forgot the SSD drive for your OS. Less than $100 to speed up OS reads by a factor of 10!!! and, you're going with onboard sound?? Hmmmm... an Asus Xonar would be adeqaute, or M Audio 2496 (on sale now). I'd avoid Creative cards. The rest looks awesone :)

    Pitch Correction Software Recommendations?

so... are you saying why should i try to perfect my 'craft' when there is software to do it for me? Or is using software part of the craft? If i'm a painter, and I draw something but have auto-draw and color correction, is it really something that I created?

I need a new PC, How does this look?

You do not need an i7 cpu... an i5 quad ivy bridge will cost you $100 less. The sweet spot on RAM with Win7 64 is 8gb, any more is superfelous. Dump the 500gb spinner for a 128gb Sold State drive. - 10 times faster read, 3 times faster write - and NO MOVING PARTS, and NO HEAT. Use it for Win7...

    Need a new PC............Help ??

I think Ivy Bridge is the latest, and it's not that much more expensive than Sandy Bridge, and has better graphics (4000hd vs 3000 or 2000hd) But if you're not doing any serious gaming, Sandy Bridge would be fine, and save you a few bucks. And you don't need the top of the line i5 either, the...

    Need a new PC............Help ??

jpb, I've built over 10 pc's for myself, and others, including musicians. An i5 is plenty for your needs. I'd also recommend 8gb of RAM, and Windows 7 64bit. And if you really want bang for your buck, load your Windows on a 120gb SSD. 10 times faster read than a spinning HD. Add a...

Which motherboard for my homemade DAW

Use your SSD for the operating system and programs, and your spinning hard drive(s) for storage. 60-80gb SSD minimum, tho 128gb is the best price point. You can pick up a 1tb drive for less than $100

    New PC build

Since you did not list your monitor, I would suggest using a dual display. A couple of 19" or 21" can be got for less than $300 and would make your workflow much easier to map out.

Pro's and Con's of using a Live sound mixer for recording

I have a Midas Venice 320, on which I had the Direct Outs set up to be Post-gain, post-insert, pre-EQ, pre-fader. I feed the direct outs to an Alesis HD24. I then transfer the tracks to a PC and remix with N Tracks software. The direct oputs allow me to record the signal without it affecting...
