    Linux audio restoration?

Since there seem to be more and more linux users out here, I'll ask this over here. What is there for doing audio restoration under linux? I have tried Audacity and GWC, but neither of them comes close to CEP/AA for flexibility and quality. But I may be missing some well hidden apps.

    (very) high mic stands

Borderline topic, but definitely microphone related. I'm searching for a high (5m-10m) microphone stand. Stable enough to hold 2 mics on a stereo bar, but it does not need to be earthquake proof, it will be used inside on a tiled floor mostly. If it would fold up nicely to fit in a normal car...

    Nuendo audio cards

These are rebadged rme cards. BUT do they work with the rme drivers?

    MC505 compatible memory cards

The mc505 takes 4MB smart media cards. Does anyone knows if you can use larger ones without problems? Those small ones are next to impossible to find.

    noise reduction and click restoration?

I'm so fed up with pc's and their randomness that I'm willing to shell out and convert to standalone equipment. Only thing missing in the shopping list is stuff to do audio restoration of LP recordings. Are there apart from the CEDAR boxes other tools for that?

    Again: linux and recording

Went through some older threads, but found nothing to my liking. So some questions to clear the path and find more info: 1: anyone here using linux and willing to share info (on or off this forum) 2: are there other forums that have more info on this particular topic Every other bit of info...

    first time keyboard buy

I need a keyboard that will be used mostly for midi to the pc. But I want to use it also as a piano, so that if the pc idea does not work, I can still use it just to play music by itself. It needs to be transportable and have a good, realistic keyboard (quite picky about that last one). Don't...

    plain vanilla 24/96 AD/DA

Does anybody know of a simple stereo 24/96 AD/DA convertor having spdif or aes outputs? Word clock input would be OK, but all the rest is just not wanted. So: no tubes, no opto-compressor, no usb, no input levels, no eq, no phase-linear wavelenght adjusted jitterproof midi connectio, no frills...

    VC-8 tip

Doing some test recordings with my VC-8 lately. Now, this unit has 100-200-300-400 and 500 Hz in the output. These go away when you use a stabilised 12V supply instead of the wall wart supplied. Just in case anyone should be interested......

    What happened to samplitude???????

Jdechant recomended taking a look at Samplitude, wich I did. The demo is great, easy to use and fit what I'm looking for. But what happened to it? If you look for Samplitude, you find references to Sek'd. On Sek'd website, you find all about Sequoia, but nothing about Samplitude. Now if you...

    What application for audio only?

So, I have about everything to record in duplo, but nothing seems to work toghether. I guess that a different multi-track soft might do the trick. But it should have the following: 1: audio centred. This is most important. I like Sonar for its intuitive working, but hate having to think in...

    crossed fig-8 recording

As I'm thinking of getting a pair of mics and want to try out the crossed fig-8 stereo, I'm on the lookout for recomendations on mics to be used. On the list now are the AKG414, CAD M179 and the Oktava ML-52. There are probably others around, but those fit the budget. So, are those usable, and...

Someone out there recording with Linux??

Is there someone on this forum recording audio under Linux? Until now never really had problems with windows, but my recent upgrade is getting the best of me. As more and more cards are coming out with linux drivers, I searched for applications. But are there any? Also, is there anything like a...

    Hardware needed for 78rpm recording

So, I have found a pile of 78rpm disks, looked around and found a player being able to play the things and read a bit around on the net. Next step is to get these in the PC. Now I have done this already with 33rpm's so the setup is ready but for one thing: I know I need a special needle to play...
