Hi all. Havent posted in quite a while. But I am hoping someone can help me track down this noise I am having.
I have recently brought back my ADAT HD rig back to my place for mixing down some tracks recorded at our practice space.
The tracking/monitoring was done on a Peavy board .... i know...

(a few) crappy no name/RS mics
I have a UA2108 pre (my good pre)
one DBX 128a
a Tascam M30 mixer. 8 channels. (good pres but no phantom)
..... and a situation of...
I have one hooked up to my HD24.
Currently I have 3 ADAT cards installed so I can easily monitor 24 tracks via light pipe.
So .... in other words right now its basically functioning as a monitor mixer.
I have also got an ADDA card and I want to set up a buss compression/coloring scheme a la...
:D
Ssssooooo psyched!!
It was supposed to be on 30 day hold but came in early.
So far I've just been trying it out on my little practice guitar amp through my UA2108 but it sounds great.
Lower output than I thought it might have but real nice sounding so far.
Nice top end without being too...
Can the HD24 output from the ADAT lightpipe outs and and analog out simultaneously???
The manual SUCKS BTW but I have it basically up and running.
But I am connecting it to a Panasonic/Ramsa DA-7 (for mixdown) and was going to use two ADAT cards and one ADDA card in the DA-7 so I can at least...
... used that is.
Its on store hold for 30 days but still ...... IF its in good condtion then I think the $220 for it will be a good deal.
Checked and it does have the clip.
I HATE going to the music store.
Went to pick up a used RNC for a buck and ended up with another mic comming.
Damn...
After moving and resetting up and then working all the time, I finally purchased an HD24 ....... UPS says it will be here Tuesday.
I am going to be hooking it up to a Panasonic DA-7 mixing board.
My (1st of a million) question is about word clock and MIDI machine control.
The DA-7 has a nice...

He agreed to trade his acoustic/electric guitar for my Gadgetlabs 496 soundcard.
I was very nonchalant about the whole thing since he was very promt in his communications (at 1st) and I had no use for that card ..... so I sent him the card 1st, and said that he should...
The M179 arrived today (super fast) and was very well packed and is in brand new condition.
With the WARRANTEE CARD!!! Bonus!!!
I'm looking forward to giving the mic a thurough workout over the next couple of days.
Nice doing business with you.

I just picked up a Beyer m500n ribbon mic yesterday.
It is in the original case and has all of the original paperwork with plot in German.
The foam in the case has disintigrated as has the foam windscreen inside the mic grill.
I of course removed the case foam and cleaned the case.
But after...

The set up is described on the link's thread.
I am pretty happy with the drum sound.
My Groove Tubes MD1-t's on overhead duty. :)
Kindaa wish I stuck with a 57 on snare instead of the M69 for a little more schnap to the snare...
I have a question, which at this point I feel like is a totally stupid thing for me to not know, but ............
I have a set of Event 20/20 passives.
I believe they are rated at 150w each.
Someone at another forum mentioned something to the effect that you SHOULD have a power amp with TWICE...
From what i've gathered about these two units they are good "balls-y" pre-amps.... especially on drums.
But if the 1272 and the 2108 had Battle Roy-al which would be the pound for pound best overall pre???
I am probably going for a Sytek unit and as I've heard that has a cleaner character, I...
I have the oportunity to purchase a Mackie MDR 24/96 (used) for about the same price as a new ADAT-HD.
I was leaning towards the ADAT because it takes regular (cheap) IDE drives as opposed to the proprietary Mackie Media drives...... (anybody know how much these are??).
I like the fact that...
