    metronome trouble

well, whatever the problem was it went away on it's own. I changed the time signature to 8/8 and then it started working right; then I changed it back to 4/4 and it's still good. thanks for your input.

    metronome trouble

I'm brand new to sonar (6.2pe) and computer recording in general. The metronome which i assume indicates bpm is way too slow, and has been since i started using the program; I have to adjust it to over 200 to get a similar tempo of say 120bpm. Any ideas?

    Downloading software updates

How do I download a daw software update if my daw is kept off the internet? Should I download it into my web surfing computer, transfer it to disk and then install? I've just purchased sonar 6pe with a laptop and plan to keep it offline, and I know there'll be an update available soon. Thanks.

    drum tracks via samples

Currently I record into a yamaha 2816. I use a keyboard sequencer for drums and program it out measure by measure. This is tedious; I'm considering buying a computer based DAW for several reasons, but my assumption is that adding drums maybe much simpler. I envision being able to track...

Bought new saddles for my ABR-1

I put a replacement bridge (abr-1) on my LP, and it was the same way; uncut. I asked the guy a tonepros about this and he suggested I just run it without grooving them. I've played it this way for nearly a year with no problems, i.e. string slippage, intonation problems, etc.

    preamp into Korg D16

I can't answer your question exactly, but I had a similar situation with a yamaha 2816. I bought an rnp, and was able to turn the gain on the yamaha down to zero, which supposedly makes it like a line-in input. It worked great for me, and I could definitely tell a difference for the better.

Major frustration: Les Paul Custom buzzing - advice

My r9 les paul buzzed, and I discovered it was the abr-1 bridge. These are apparently notorious for rattling. I replaced it with a tone pros abr bridge which promptly stopped all buzzing.

    larivee acoustic

I had never played one of these guitars, but had the chance today. I forget the exact model, but it listed for around $2400/sale price 1700. I usually grab a martin or taylor in that price range, trying to figure out which one I will eventually buy, but I was far more impressed with this...

    new speakers/old cab

I've got a marshall 2x12 cabinet (1936) with celestion 75's. I am thinking about changing them out with a vintage 30 and a g12m. I read somewhere that this is a good combo of speakers for a 2x12, but I'm wondering if the speaker cab itself is subpar. In other words, would I be wasting good...

    motu vs digidesign

I'm thinking of getting a computer-based recording setup. Currently my studio is based around a aw2816. It seems that the digidesign 002 and motu/digital performer get a lot of press, but I can't really tell what the main differences are. Can anyone offer some comparisons? thanks.

    studer revox "studio monitors"

My neighbor told me about these "studio monitor speakers" he has; they've just been sitting around his house unused. They are labelled "revox" and he says they are made by studer, and claims they cost several thousand dollars many years ago. I saw them and they are huge, and weigh a ton...

    Rnc, Presonus Bluetube

Yeah, I've still got the RNC. I haven't even used it once since my initial post. I plugged it up once since I bought it, so it's in perfect condition. I still have the original box. It's a great item, I just haven't needed an outboard compressor.

    qotsa/dave grohl/foo fighters

Yeah, I don't mean to be harsh on the FF--I really like that CD. It's just that the drums stand out in a very impressive way on the qotsa cd.
