metronome trouble

I'm brand new to sonar (6.2pe) and computer recording in general. The metronome which i assume indicates bpm is way too slow, and has been since i started using the program; I have to adjust it to over 200 to get a similar tempo of say 120bpm. Any ideas?

Hmmm, check the top metronome icons.

You want the middle "2" selected, at least in Sonar 3. If you have "1" selected, it will be half slower.

Try using the "tap" function in the metronome setup. It will help you translate what you think the tempo is into what Sonar thinks it is.

well, whatever the problem was it went away on it's own. I changed the time signature to 8/8 and then it started working right; then I changed it back to 4/4 and it's still good. thanks for your input.
