First Tracks -a strat story

yes, it's gonna snow bigtime here for xmas....

but besides that:

this song is my paean to alpine skiing.

and, it's the first song i recorded with a newly crafted custom strat:

Cool tune, man. Mix sounds good, too. Did you use that same strat for all the tracks, rhythms and leads? What is the bridge pick-up, looks like a Hot Rails maybe?

hey johnny!
thanks for listening,
and for the questions....

yes, used the same strat for all tracks.

the first section is all Humbucker bridge tracks....
this is a Bill Lawrence L500L....
this guitar has what's called a "Q filter" in it..
on the master tone control, it sweeps the 'induction' of the pickup, dialed all the way down, and set clean,
the humbucker almost sounds like an acoustic guitar..so every rhythm track has a bit more or less of the q filter on it, so it sounds like different guitars.

guitars tracked thru a mesa boogie markIIb head, into a pair of 1x12's with greenbacks.

the 2nd half (solo) is the neck.......
it's also a bill lawrence, a stacked single, called a L280.

Great tune! Some great guitar creativity and execution. Vocals are good too... nicely done.

Yeah the guitar sounds fantastic. Nice range of tones and well executed. Is there some kinda edit glitch there in the 1st chorus? Really like the lead tones. What do you use for drums?

Cool
Guitars cut right through. Always liked the Bill Lawrence stuff.
It's obvious that first and foremost you're a guitar player. Good playing and good arrangements. :D

Always love a new Gonzo Tune! Love the wah section...just starting to get a feel for how the thing works. My newest (song 6) is just getting posted up and has my first attempt at some rhythm wah stuff. Witchy-coo-coo witchy-coo-coo...
Man, you've got some serious chops on the guitar!

But, I'd like to point out something completely different. I've only been here, what? five years? Your voice has REALLY come into it's own in that time. You're either writing to your voice better, or you've done some serious practice. Props, dude!

hey Bulls, thanks for listening!

there is no glitch, probably a playback glitch with that silly soundcloud player....

so most of this was captured with a simple shure sm57 on the edge of the cone....
the 2nd-half solo is all direct, tho, off of a palmer pdi-09 catching the output of a well driven mesa boogie markIIb.

the drums, on this one, is a track i built using Sony Acid.
it has a lot of room sound on it,
it's only a 2-track stereo file, so i couldn't re-mix it, so i just went with it,
placing some room sound in after the fact.

appreciate the comments
