Cool clip tadpui....I've posted lots of clips here with bass/drums dude, I don't think it's a problem...Your clips does sound pretty trippy...

oh man! That's pretty awesome ..... :) ...... takes me back ..... 60's psychedelia .... is that amp a re-issue?

I'd love to hear that clean channel with a chopped rhythm behind this lead ......... .

And don't rag on your playing ..... it sounds fine to me.

Post more mang! This was cool and I liked that tone a lot .....

Thanks Bob!

Yeah, that amp is a reissue... Fender put out that '68 RI series in the last couple of years. My only other fender amp was a red-knob Princeton Chorus that bore zero resemblance to its namesake. So this one has been a real treat. I'll work something up with the vintage clean channel, it's so pristine that it renewed my faith in clean electric guitar. It breaks up at exactly the right moments.

Out of all the new-ish gear I have, that old CS-3 is the veteran of the crew. It's my secret weapon since I'm usually a mild breakup kind of guy. Kick that thing on and even the most mild mannered amp goes apeshit :)

Thanks minermang. I just dragged and dropped a loop from EZD into a reaper project running SD2. I love the sounds of SD but damned if I don't love the tap to find function of EZD.

How are those DTK drums treating you? I still jack with mine all the time, I love em.

Oh and Lt Bob, how goes the telecaster build?

I like the Toontrack stuff man, I've never used EZD2, but I do have Superior & a whole bunch of their expansions & midi packs...I started with EZD1 about 5-6 years ago, but finally upgraded to Superior...Dunno about EZD2, but there's no comparison between EZD1 & Superior IMO...The thing I really like about Superior is you can use the EZ expansions in it along with the SDX's...

How are those DTK drums treating you? I still jack with mine all the time, I love em.
They're great for banging out beats & getting ideas down quick, but they also show me how much I actually suck at playing drums...:laughings:. I like 'em though, I should've gotten a set a long time ago...I'd thought about getting another hh controller for better variations in the sounds, but, it's pretty easy to just edit the midi too...

Tad, I think that sounds cool as fuck. Not the sort of music that I would normally listen to but I still really enjoyed it. Nice. I always record with drums and bass unless I am stumped with a problem on a tone and want to work out some specifics. When I have it I'll always record with everything else.

I haven't been a very good contributor to the tone thread lately. But I've been fiddling with my Fenders and wanted to post my new favorite tone. Forgive the playing, I'm flubbing notes left and right. I wouldn't have the confidence to post this anywhere except for the tone enthusiasts.

This is my first real exploration of the Custom channel on my '68 DR amp. The Vintage channel has the most amazing cleans I've ever experienced. But the Custom channel is just "meh" for cleans. Then I sent some pedals through it. The Custom channel seems to LOVE pedals.

I got a new (used) Fender P-bass, and I'm really liking it. I wanted an excuse to record it, so I did this. Posting drums and bass in the tone thread seems a little sacrilegious... This is just a 4-bar bass loop repeated over and over and over. Plugged direct into Mic input #1 on my interface, routed into an ART Pro VLA-II.

Guitar is a Fender American Deluxe Tele, bridge pickup, tone rolled back about 20%.

Sent it through an Ibanez TS9 (drive-10:00, tone-10:30, level-11:00)
Then a Boss CS-3 (level-max, tone-11:00, attack-9:00, sustain-max) - this is my the-sky-is-falling, end-of-the-world setting. Don't stop playing or it'll feed back! Ride the lightning!

Amp is a Fender '68 Deluxe Reverb reissue, Custom channel. (volume-4.5, treble-5, bass-3, reverb-3)

ugh, forgot that using a hardware compressor in a software insert loop means realtime rendering. Took forever to figure that out! Anyways, link is live again.

That's bad ass. I like the peter gunn feel to it. Great tone.

Tadpui,
Nice tone and feel mate!
Fun track too.
Add a rhythm guitar like Lt Bob suggested - you were going to demo clean so why not that way?

Nice, tadpui! - I have never had a good fender amp (just a blues jr) but I kinda want one now.

I don't use tube pre amps anymore and I get a good tube sound. But I use a Mesa 50/50 tube power amp...
Word. I use one of those TnC ACMP73 preamps from the group buy here a few years ago through a 50 watt class A EL-34 based power amp into a 4x12 and it sounds great

 I dunno 'bout that dude, I was just telling the guy about my experience with the HT-5, & telling him what I'd heard about the other Blackstar amps from other people....If I offended you in any way Bob, I apologize, but honestly dunno what's up with that dude...
man ..... you're the one I dunno what's up with ...... I come back and say some more about the amp and you somehow got that I was offended.
I didn't say i was offended ..... nor did I say anything about you at all. Quote me where I said anything about being offended.
If I disagree with you about an amp (that you don't even know anything about) why does that make you feel like I'm offended?

I'm a little offended now because you're putting me in the position of feeling I have to be super careful about how I talk about amps because you're so quick to assume someone's mad at you that simply being corrected about an amp MUST mean that I have something against you.

I'm not gonna do that and I shouldn't have to.
If I ever actually say something that indicates I'm offended then fine ..... but I didn't.

If I can't comment on amps without getting into grade-school level accusations of me being a meanie and "why are you offended" when it's entirely something you've imagined then I'm done.
I'll never post here again.

Now, I'm telling you right now ........ if I'm ever offended it'll be very clear because I'll be calling you names and cussing you out ...... otherwise any offense you sense is just in your hyperactive imagination.
Don't do that again.

lol. WTF is happening here?
I dunno ........ I came back and said that his experience with the HT5 was meaningless when it came to the Club 40 and explained why and, for some reason, he assumed that MUST mean I was offended.
Stupid.

The reason i argued about the amp was that he was giving advice concerning an amp he had absolutely no experience with whatsoever ..... and that's all.
How does that indicate offense? I'm fucking insulted right now ....... I don't give two fucks what has him so touchy that he imagines people being mad at him ...... it's not ok to do that to me.

I think the cold hard context of typed words in black-and-white on the internet has caused something to get lost in translation.

I was just fine and was just talking about amps ....... I DON'T appreciate the accusation and overly-defensive bullshit.
I'm not fucking walking on eggshells when all I'm doing is talking amps ..............
happens again then there's no point in trying to talk about amps because I'll have to worry if I've made miner feel attacked .......................

I'm simply not willing to have to go over every word I say to see if somehow he might feel that I was secretly aiming barbs at him.

Please leave your insecurities at home ..... I'm never subtle if I feel offended ...... like now, for instance!

Bob, I was just being nice, that's the whole reason I apologized, I thought I'd offended you in some way...I meant nothing by anything I said...Water under the bridge......

OK ..... calmed down now so lemme try and explain what I took offense at.

Now PLEASE read exactly what I say and do NOT read anything into it other than specifically what I say, ok?

First, minerman ..... you're a great guy ..... a good guitarist ..... you have the passion for gear and music that we all share in this thread and you're a super-valuable member of the tone thread.
I do NOT say things I don't mean ..... you're important here to this thread and you're a friend.
I would NOT say any of this if it weren't true ..... I never do that so you can take it to the bank.

So that's why , when you assumed that because I came back and argued about what you said about Blackstars in general based only on a HT5 ..... for you to get that I was offended out of that was insulting.
THAT was what was insulting ..... the idea that I would be so immature and dumb that I would get offended over a conversation about gear is what I was insulted by ..... until you came out with that I was simply talking amps and pointing out that you had no real reference to say anything about the amps in general.

You first comments about 'sorry if I offended you' back when we were talking about amps were the specific things that offended me. I had no idea that anyone could possibly be getting bothered up 'till that point and I was just happily discussing amps.

I actually had no idea what the hell you could be talking about and I'll tell ya' right now, I STILL don't have the slightest idea of how you could have thought I was offended about the amp conversation in the first place.
But once again ..... I wasn't offended ...... I was just talking amps.

Now, maybe you're naturally a little defensive (some people are ) and lord knows I'm kinda blunt but, I didn't say anything about you and I promise you, if I ever am offended I'll damn well let you know .............. as I did.

Being friends requires a certain amount of trust ....... you having so little trust in me that you laboriously manage to turn a conversation completely about amps into me being offended is an issue.
It's easily resolved since I do like you and do consider you a friend and do consider you important to this thread ....... the way to resolve it is to not read emotion where none is present.
If I have not said specifically that "I am offended" .... then I'm not.
It's really that simple.

So .... apologies for upsetting you ..... you're a friend and an important contributor and I don't want you upset which is why I'm apologizing which I rarely do ....... I hope this is the end of it ...... but I do ask you to not assume that I'm such a drooling idiot that I would get mad over a discussion about amplifiers.

Thanks everybody! I'm really pleased with how it's turned out thus far. I appreciate all of the positive feedback, it's reassuring to say the least.

Oh and Bob, I looked back and saw the Tele. Nice job, it turned out great!
