Haha, thanks guys! I hope yall enjoyed this little tour of the JVM410. It does a lot of stuff that I don't even get into.

I'm actually surprised with the OD2 Orange clip. That's way more gain than I ever use, but I think it sounds pretty good for a song like that. I could use that sound.

Green all the way.
Orange sounds undefined when you hit the parts with the single notes. The green one has a lot more attack and bite.

The rampant gain on orange and red does compress the sound a lot for sure.
How much does the power tubes contribute to the sound of the JVM Greg???

I know the DSL's power section has a little to do with it's sound, but it's way different than the Ceriatone (when in "regular/plexi" mode anyway)....

I'm assuming the JVM is kinda like the DSL, it probably sounds good even at low-ish volumes, right??? The DSL does pretty good IMO with low-ish volumes, you really don't have to peel the paint off the walls to get it to sound good....The Ceriatone on the other hand (again, when in "regular/plexi" mode) needs to be up to about 5-6 before it starts to sound "right", which in reality is pretty damn loud to be honest...I was fucking around with some di's tonight, & walked through the house/outside, & the "little" 50 watter ain't no slouch loudness-wise, but it still ain't even close to the DSL...:).

The JVM has a very clean power section. It doesn't do much to the overall sound unless it's wound up very loud. That negative feedback mod I did gets the power section breaking down sooner, but I don't use it all the time. The JVM is a very good low volume amp, and it's the only amp I use when just dicking around without trying to break the windows.

That's cool man...Really, both of my "big" amps sound pretty decent at low volumes, but it's really hard to control myself sometimes, as I do like it a little louder than most...hahahaha....

It's weird how differently my 2 amps react to their master volume, the DSL must be pretty similar to your JVM as the power tubes really don't add anything to it that it doesn't already have at low volumes, but the Ceriatone gets dirtier the louder you push it...After about "8" on the Chupa's master, it just fuzzes out too much for me really...about 7-8 on the master of that amp is "it" for me...

Just to be honest, I very rarely push the DSL100 past 4-5, that's just super-fuckin'-hurt all over loud, but the few times I have cranked it up, the power tubes add just a little grit when you hit about 7 or so on the volume, but again, man that is super fuckin' loud...

Believe it or not the little 1w DSL's power section adds some breakup when you get it wound up to about 7-8 too...It does sound pretty good through my 4x12 with the SD-1 boosting the red channel & will actually suprise you how loud it is for a baby-version 1 watt amp though...:).

And the more I play either of these amps, the more I like 'em...I had the Chupa on tonight, just basically dicking around with it, & I have to say dude, it's great...The era switch on that thing make it a dream come true for me, more gain than I'd ever need, with lots of options for different tones with the bright switches (these are technically bright switches, but they really add pre-amp gain, just a little different "flavor" with each position)...I know it's not a real plexi/super lead, but I'm really happy with it myself....

Fuck man, I'm pretty happy with all the gear I've got to be honest....:laughings:.

I still haven't decided what amp to get and it's starting to piss me off a bit. It's more annoying that I am working in the arse end of nowhere during the week days so I don't get to play that much

JDOD: Dude, just get the DSL40 & call it a day....:)....Seriously man, it's got the same features my 100w head does, in a smaller, more portable package....Yes, it's 40 watts instead of 100, but honestly, I rarely have my DSL past 3-4 on the master volume, it's just a super loud amp, & I'm sure the 40w version is about the same....If you ever decide to get a 2x12 or 4x12, the 40w would push either nicely, & pretty much effortlessly....The only weak thing about the DSL40 IMO is the speaker, but that could be easily replaced, or run it through another cab....

I don't know, JDOD doesn't seem to be a "Marshall sound" kind of guy.

Hey JDOD, check out Egnater and Jet City.

The DSL and JVM are pretty similar in the way they get their tones mostly from the preamp section. The power sections are designed to stay clean. The DSL probably breaks up a little sooner than the JVM. The JVM was intentionally designed to be extremely clean in the power section because it has so much gain on tap and and it would turn into a mushy mess if the power section fell apart on top of all that preamp gain. They did good with the JVM though because even with all the ungodly preamp gain it can have, it doesn't ever really get fizzy. Like I said, it's the only one of my amps that I even turn on for little volume goofing around. I sometimes use the 2204 too for little volume goofing around now that I've got it all fixed up.

I would love to try a DSL 40W but no where seems to stock them. All the shops seem to be turning their backs on Marshall cos they've become a pain to deal with.

Short list so far is:
Blackstar HT club 40 (very Marshall style) and a simple layout, easy to dial in.

Bognor alchemist 40W with a V30. This had a huge range of tone but with a built in digital delay and reverb. Lots of complex options. Bit of a pain to dial in.

Peavey Valve King both 20W and 50W options. I found the 20W a bit jangly thin sounding but I only played iit using a yamaha pacifica. Need to try it with my telecaster on the Pearly Gates.

I like to try the amps through all their settings. I mainly play slightly crunched wirh a pedal to boost it a bit more.

What sort of budget are you looking at JDOD? Are you after a combo?

started assembling the tele ........ the neck's no good ......... twisted ...... with neck relief correct on the bass side the treble side is straight with a rise at the 9th fret. And a fall off at the 2nd fret that makes every string frets out on the first fret.
But they wouldn't accept that without me installing it and putting strings on it to see if it would settle.
So i freakin' had to ream the tuner holes .... install tuners ..... install the neck ...... string it up ...... let it settle .... it sucked just like I said so now I undo all that work and do it all over again whenever they send me a new neck.

The fun of music. :D

Just caught this. What you building Lt...?

The oranges were all over 700 quid. All of the above are under 600 quid.

You have probably outlined the spec here already but humour me.........:)
just on a whim bought parts for one from Guitar Fetish.
I have some of their stuff and all of it has been amazing for being cheap.
Great pedals and hardware for the price.
And their gits are pretty amazing for 200 bucks.
I actually like their p'ups a lot ..... have some on a partscaster and they're about as good as any strat I've ever had.
Fralins would be much nicer but 5 times as much money. :)

So they've added a line of bodies and necks and , since I've never had a traditional tele, I somehow got the wife to go, "That's a nice color on that body", and I considered that permission! :D
Whole thing'll cost me about 350.

They're sending another neck ..... shipped today.
This one was bad but I'm sure the next'll be fine.
Satin back/unfinished maple fretboard.
