Behringer mics and mixer won't play with my DAW.

Hi everyone.

Long time since I posted on here but here goes. I have purchased Magix Samplitude Music Studio (bought this after reading many reviews). Along with that I have a Akai Mini midi controller and using a Behringer X1622usb mixer with Behringer C1 mics.

I don't seem to be able to record any sound on my software through the mics/mixer. I asked Magix and they said "if the mixer is using Asio drivers there shouldn't be a problem". The mixer is using an Asio driver but still no sound goes through to my PC. The mics are registering on the mixer though.

Would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks in advance

Any recording software will need to be told what hardware you want to use.
By default, most will probably just choose your built in sound card. You need to tell it otherwise.

Usually there is a menu called settings, preferences, hardware setup....something like that.
Have a hoke and tell the software to use your USB device.

If you want to go a step further, although there's no real need, you could just boot into the computers BIOS and disable on board audio.
The Changes are everything will then default to the USB device.

Hope that's useful.

You may have to select the ASIO driver in your DAW. It may be set to the default driver of your OS. Can Samplitude record from or play to your PC's stock sound card? If so the DAW is probably set to the wrong driver.

In an attempt to help the OP I mistakenly down loaded MAGIX Music Studio 2015 (not M Samplitude Music Studio) and I will get to the results shortly. In the meantime...

MAGIX? You are bastards. Hidden in the download is a thing called "Simpliclean" and yes, it is another of those bloody useless cleaners that runs for 5 mins, tells you your computer is in imminent meltdown then will not give you a free go to clean it!

It is bad enough that many download sites slide in such crap cleaners, speed boosters and toolbars but at least when we are looking at the freebies we expect them and can usually hack them out. It is quite another matter when a major player in all sorts of software, some of it extremely good, professional software, plays these kind of catch-penny games.

YOU CAN BE VERY SURE MAGIX THAT EVERYTIME I MENTION SAMPLITUDE ON A FORUM (and I do, frequently) I SHALL TELL PEOPLE TO BEWARE OF THE CRAP!!

So, back to MAGIX studio. No, I could not get an input to show from a Behringer UCA 202 nor my KA6. True, I did not sweat long over the setup but then you should not need to!

Dave.

That's way more than enough cause to justify a boycott of all Magix products. Companies that behave like that should be put out of business. I say make the above warning a sticky.

To be fair, Simpliclean seems to be a magix product so at least it's not some third party you know nothing about.
I'd be surprised if it the installation was genuinely 'hidden', since it's a legit enough product, but they do usually make it less than obvious.

It might be worth running the installer again to double check that there isn't a 'uptick the box' option on the way.

It's amazing how much shit gets installed when I'm fixing a laptop for someone.
I'm not used to having to be on my guard all the time.

I actually did install it twice! Had an error come up first time. There is a "Custom" option when installing but I think newbs will go for a standard install since they would not know (as would I not!) which bits to install and which not?

Would not be SO bad if the bloody thing worked! Gave you at least one free go. In any case, after it "found" all the errors on my laptop I ran Malwarebytes, then a full SE scan and finally a Registry clean with Ccleaner. None of them found buggerall!

Dave.

I used to use Download.com a while back as it is used by many software producers as a means to distribute their software. After a few downloads from that site about 6 months ago, I really avoid that site as it bundles in some real bad crapware along with the software you want. Now I always look for download links at the software producers site and FWIW scan the download for malware.
This article is an example of the kind of crapware that you're at risk of when using Download.com....
Here’s What Happens When You Install the Top 10 Download.com Apps

Like I say, I've been spoiled with the mac and haven't really had to worry about this lately, but I have noticed that download.com has got so much worse.
It's littered with download links for all sorts of stuff you don't want, and it's incredible easy to click the wrong link.
On top of that the right link is usually littered with crap too, as you say.

Hmm, that does sound sketchy!

Agreed on download.com - crap bundled in wiht no option to not install it.
